Winchester M70 .225
« on: July 15, 2012, 04:27:01 PM »
Does anyone have a M70 in .225 Winchester caliber? How difficult would it be to open up the magazine to take cartridges full .308 (2.80 inches) length?
I am considering a 7mm/.225 conversion, perhaps something similar to the 7mm JDJ case.
Would it be easier to use a .308 action with the correct length magazine in the first place? Would the feed rails for a .308 work with the smaller diametr (.422 inch) .225 case?

dont know about the pre 64s but the post 64s just used a piece of steal spot welded in the mag box and it was easily removed. Id guess the feed rails would be fine as is.
