PERFECT SEMI-AUTO
« on: July 16, 2012, 10:24:38 PM »
I keep reading about a perfect semi-auto.
I really wanted one years ago.
I have many attempts at/towards this quest.
I have number of them--so--I guess that they are all perfect in their own, strange ways
Blessings

That is surely an "in the eyes of the beholder" sort of question. For me it is a moving target as well. At the range I sure like a big one high capacity mags too. It'll work at home just fine too. But I'm tellin' you they can barely get small enough when they go to town with me. Unless of course I look at the puny little cartridge, at which point I'm thinking comforting is what the man said not comfortable. :D

This week the P-239 seems just fine thank you, it gets the nod, well, 100% of the time these days. Traded another pistol away leaving just the fatty left ( SP-2340 ), to carry. It is not allowed to leave the house in the summer, lest somebody see how rotund it is. ;)

I'm currently torn between a P-232 Sig and a P-2000 sk HK. One's not quite enough I fear, the other is plenty and probably too danged much. So right now I have convinced myself the P-239 is enough, but not quite too much. ::)

You opened a can of worm wiht that one William.
Many say the S&W 41 is the perfect auto
Many say the 1911 is the perfect auto and others argue if the 1911 is perfect why did John Browning design the Browning High Power after it.  If you designed the perfect auto why build another after it?
Some say the Sig P220 is the perfect 45ACP as it was the first action that would fire any and all commercial ammo even in the same magazine.  Something the 1911 could not do at the time.
I think the perfect auto is one you have confidance in that will go bang with the ammo in it.

If we all fell in love with the same woman it would be a hell of a fight---------and I would still be single.

The term perfect semi-auto pistol implies the pistol is best for all uses.  Obviously there is no such pistol. Tell me who is going to use the pistol and what it is expected to do, and then we can start talking about the perfect pistol for the application.
