crimson trace/laser?
« on: July 17, 2012, 09:59:29 PM »
Do you use laser on your CC handgun and do you feel it is necessary to have one or does it help your aim at all? I am thinking of adding one on my G23 but I'm not sure if it really would benefit. I should also mention im left handed and use the two thumb forward grip.

I have one on my carry gun. I got it sighted in not for day time use, but more for night time use. I will almost always rely on the sights over the laser.

I think Lasers are GREAT in a CCW handgun. But, you being a lefty really throws a monkey wrench in the works.  :P

I have a Ruger LCP with a CT Laser on the trigger guard. Those sights on the LCP are so SMALL I can't even find them. But with that Laser this little pistol shoots light out.

I liked it so much I then put the same setup on my Glock 27. I thought I was a GOOD fast shot with the normal Nite Sights on my 27. But I improved in speed and accuracy with the CT Laser on the trigger guard.

So I decided one more try, I have the pistol grips CT laser on my Kimber Ultra CDP II .45 ACP, they are outstanding. They are not for everybody, but I LIKE EM. if you are hurt and laying on the ground, you don't have to extend your arm up to line up your sites, just put the red dot on the felon and pull the trigger.

Remember you can be in any position and still hit what you are aiming at. Even if your shooting arm was pinned, and you can still move your wrist you could theoretically get off the shot.

Another option is the new laserlite sight, it goes on the SIDE of the auto, it is neither on the grip or triggerguard. One touch of your index finger it turns on, touch again it turns off. What advantage you say? It will fit with any REGULAR Holster. Remember when you put a Laser sight on the trigger guard only certain holsters will work, very few actually. But when it is on the grip, back sights, or side, regular holsters work.

Also Crimson Trace are the most expensive, probably the best quality but sort of pricey, usually $175 to $250. The lasermax are cheaper, and the Laserlite goes for about $99 if my memory serves me correctly.

Hope this helps.

I never knew how accurate my .357 Ruger SP-101 could be until I added the lazer grip.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

Same for me as coyotejoe, same gun too. I also have one on my 657 MT Gun in case I'm dealing w a bear or something at night - I don't need to see the sights.  And the batteries have lasted forever.  My 101 is my carry gun and I can fire it much more accurately w the laser and I don't have to extend my hands to see the sights.  I can keep it in close, even have a low hold.  I'm not a real good handgunner and I'm out of practice these days but the sight really helps me.  Hmm I need to get to the range.  I wouldn't hesitate to get one - but the lefty thing is a puzzle. You need to check to see if you'd be covering the light.

For me night sights are more important. The technology is there for green lasers, but CT keeps on over charging for the outdated red lasers. If you want to only use them indoors or at night, they are fine. If you grow a dependency on them for accuracy and have to use them during daylight, they wont work. Green lasers will to about 100 yards in full sun.
