Yeah, I was wondering if the shooter dude was one of our guys.  If so, way to go dude.  If not, way to go dude, anyway.

I'll start off by saying I think it was awesome he was there, armed, and mentally prepared to shoot.

NOW.... for my own educational purposes.... can we break the scenario down?  I like to run shoot/don't shoot scenarios through my head.  Here's how I see it:

The first shot was justified since there was obviously a threat to the shooter's life (the robber pointed his gun at the shooter) as well as extreme risk of threat to the other people in the room.  I will say the lady standing behind the robber was damned lucky she didn't get hit.

I would say shot 2 COULD be justifiable since the robber still had a gun in his hand, and had only begun to indicate he might flee.

Shots 3, 4 and 5 were at a fleeing suspect.  Were they legitimate?

Shot 6 was a VERY poor decision in my opinion.  It was at a fleeing suspect, who was already out the door.  On top of that, there was no time on the shooter's part to verify a clear background.

Like I said, I'm glad he was there, and glad he shot.  I would have been happier had both robbers ended up face down in a pool of blood, but we can't win them all.
The problem with troubleshooting is....sometimes it shoots back!

I think he only made one decision: fight or flight.

I wonder if he hit any of the armed robbers?

Me too. It looked like a little 380 or similar, so one could have been hit but not reacted to it until later.  The video is a good one though in that there doesn't appear to have been a hit, but the threat of a guy shooting sure stopped the threat in a hurry. That scene where they're scrambling out the door like the three stooges is precious.

Looks like 2 shots were hits, but the 380 wasn't enough to do the job.

From Fox News:

The video shows patron Samuel Williams pulling a handgun and shooting. He continues firing while the suspects fall over each other as they run out the door.

Nineteen-year-olds Duwayne Henderson and Davis Dawkins were later arrested and face attempted armed robbery with a firearm and criminal mischief charges. They were transported to Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Dawkins had a superficial wound in his left arm, but Henderson was shot in two places: his left buttock and his right hip.
Both posted bail and were released.

Williams has a concealed weapons permit. Bill Gladson of the Marion County State Attorney's Office says the shooting appears justified.Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/07/18/florida-customer-shoots-suspects-during-internet-cafe-robbery/#ixzz20z8KH3Wr

What ashame. Those poor kids went in there to make a withdrawl of cash and maybe beat someone's skull in, good wholesome fun, you know doing the things kids do, and all they got was a slug in the ass.

I applaud the senior gentleman. He was brave and not the least bit hesitant. He kept moving forward and shooting. Looks like he had some training. The last shots may be questionable in the court of law, but not by me.

Civil suit is probably already in the works and there also needs to be an investigation as to wether or not the white man committed a hate crime. He probably used his white devil x-ray vision eyes that are located in the back of his head and determined that the assailants were black before he decided to fire.

The media has released photos of the victim:

And the evil white assailant who fired multiple shots for no reason:

LAKOTA. Thanks, I saw a pic of the other poor kid and he was even younger, I sure feel sorry for them.  I rarely carry my 380, it's usually my 38 spcl, but would not feel unarmed if I did. POWDERMAN.  ;) ;)

Fortunately, Florida has a Castle Doctrine, there will be no civil suit.

I carry my .380 most all of the time. I have only pulled twice in self defence first as some lunatic attempted to kick my door down because the cops towed his disabled vehicle that he left in my driveway that was seen fleeing the scene of a burglary hours earlier. I didnt even point it at him. The way he reacted you would have thought I was holding a Super Redhawk or something. He went from MF'ing me and threatening me to calling me sir. It was like instant charm school. The second time I pulled it was on a maurading groundhog who couldnt decide if he would rather bite my dog or bite me. I felt undergunned against the groundhog! ;)

Undergunned??
While stationed in Germany in the 60's with Uncle Sam's Finest we, the Peons had the duty to guard the perimeter of our installation against those nasty Civilians with not only unloaded rifles but no ammo at all.

We were however protected by a somewhat secure fence.

Due to its size and concealability I had a little 25 ACP stuck in my pocket. It was loaded.  I never had to use it. Now in my more mature days I wonder how I would have made out in a Court Marshal had I needed to use it.

I don't think Fl. a civil suit can be had if a shooting is ruled justifyed ? As long as the guys had weapons it would seem the right thing to do was to stop them from hurting folks in their path.
Great old man ! shame he wasn't at the Bat man movie  ;)

I don't know what a 380 would have done to a guy wearing a vest etc.

The .380 might have brusied his ribs, maybe knocked the wind out of hum but probably little else. Now maybe if someone had one of those handguns that fire that wicked looking bottle necked high velocity 5mm round it could have done something to him.

If I ran into a situation like this one while carrying I would take cover and prepare to shoot only as a last resort. I would prefer not to engage someone who had a rifle while I had only a handgun. I carry to protect myself and my loved ones. Its not my duty to protect every sheeple who runs with the herd- Not only is the risk to my life too great but you also have to consider the risk to freedom and risk of financial ruin when you decide to intervene.

In SD classes we were told if a center mass shot does not have the desired result of stopping the attack try the head and thigh areas . a head shot will stun at the least giving time for more shots and a broken thigh or hip will have the bad guy down. We looked at this because crooks are using vest these days . In reality if close shoot all three places .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
