Hi guys,
I'm not in a position to replace my handi butt stock at the moment, but I notice a dual issue. The cheek piece is far too high disabling the ability to effectively sight down a shotgun bore or see the irons of my Huntsman barrel, and the butt seems to sit far too high on my shoulder, right into the bone. This makes shooting 3.5" 12 ga really, really unpleasant. Even sighting in the Huntsman took a toll quickly.
Positioning the butt lower on the shoulder is much more comfortable but exacerbates my ability to get an iron sight picture.
Since replacing the stock is not in the cards at the moment, I am wondering if I can just shim the sock down. This should lower the comb and position the butt lower, yes? The goal would be a semi-permannt solution that allows me to test the "fit" for a couple range sessions and maybe one time out hunting.
I can replace the stock later with a straight stock ( I DO like the looks of those!) when I don't have so many other projects going on.
