New Member with pics

First let me says thanks to all of the people on here who have volunteered so much useful information in all of the different threads!

New member here with some pics of the newest member of my growing H&R collection.  The little wifey surprised me at Christmas time last year with this .44mag.  So I thought it was high time I shared some pics.

and here are a couple more with the scope I just ordered.  I haven't shot it yet, since I was waiting on the scope.  Finally found the one I wanted, so now I'll get around to taking it to the range to get it sighted in.  Just hope my 44 doesn't give me the trouble other people have posted on here about groupings and what not.

Winchester 290 in the front since I bought a scope for it at the same time.

Welcome, Nice wife I mean gun. You probably already know about the FAQs at the top of the page but if you have trouble you can check there. Looks like you have plenty of room if you need to mount the scope lower. Don't know if that would affect accuracy on a 44 mag though.

What's on the list for this CHRISTmas ;D

Yeah the scope does look pretty high in the pic.  But I bought 2 sets of rings, 1 high and 1 see-thru set.  The see thru set is on there since I didnt feel the high rings gave enough clearance for the hammer.

Welcome! The scope only has to clear the swing of the hammer when an extension is used, I have dozens of Handis with the scope mounted in low and medium rings with just a little removed from the tip of the hammer spur, lots on that in the FAQs, no need to mount the scope that high, depending on your anatomy, most work best with the scope mounted as low as possible to provide a good cheek weld. Someone with a huge face like Ron Pearlman would prolly do fine with a high mounted scope tho!  ;D

Is there an extender for the hammer like you can get for a contender or 94?

Nice little rifle by the way.

See the hammer extension info in the scope base section of the FAQs, there are several.

When I get home I'll put the other rings on.  There was clearance from the hammer, but just a sliver.  I'll try and take a close up picture of the hammer clearance between both sets of rings.
