My Model 70 FW in .30-06

I picked this one in a Pawn Shop for $725.00 it was unfired.  I put a Leupold VX-2 3-9X40 in Burris Zees on it.  Made in Utah.  I hope to shoot it soon.

Wow thats got some beautiful wood. Ive got a 280 just like it but my wood isnt near as nice. Your going to find that there great shooters. Ive allways told everyone that theres no factory rifle other then a #1 ruger thats any prettier and ive never found a bolt factory gun that fits me better. Its like they made it just for me. If i would have found that 06 on a rack it would have surely came home with me. Hard to beat a beautiful gun like that in one of my favorite calibers. thats one to be proud of!!!

Some folks say these were made in Utah and some say SC.  I'm not sure....I hope to find a good 150 grain load for it.  I have an ammo can full of once fire brass.

  Swampman, I am sure you have your favorite reloads, but my old '06 works best with a top charge of IMR 4350 and a 150 grain either Horn. or Serria...BUT to get the very best accuracy, I had to switch to a mag. primer...

    A few days ago, you wrote that the best place for a Savage rifle is on a trash heap.  Then, you went out and bought one for your wife.
 
  About two weeks ago, you wrote that you never saw a Featherweight Winchester 70 that could shoot accurately, because of the inherent  problems with the configuration of the stock.  And now, you have gone out and bought one.
 
  So, what's going on here?
 
   You are buying rifles that you have repeatedly trashed over the last two years.
 
  Now personally, I don't care much between these brands of rifles, because I've got better things to do with my life than agonize over a 1.25 inch group compared to a .75 inch group.   But you have repeatedly written that this is the key stone of your shooting, and that this is why you love the Remington 700 rifle above all else.
 
  So, really, what has changed here?

I haven't bought a Savage 111 Hog Hunter yet but I might......for $400.00 if you don't like it, you can toss it in the river and smile about it.  Remington doesn't make anything like it.
I keep hearing that the new FN Winchester Model 70s are very accurate but without first hand experience I can't say.  I buy all kinds of guns just to test them so I'll have first hand knowledge, probably about 25 a year.  I don't have to like them to shoot them.  I keep hoping they'll prove me wrong.  This is the 3rd Model 70 I've owned in the last 3 years.  I hope it's a shooter....I will say I've never owned or even seen a Remington that was a poor shooter.
