Fire form .223 improved.....

Guys,

I could use some help as I have heard different things from different shooters.  What is the best way to fire form 223 Remington Improved cases?  Is it OK to just fire .223 cartridges in the improved chamber?  Is this a safe way to fire form the 223 case?  Any other suggestions?

Go buy some cheap bulk bullets and load them with a light load of the fastest buring powder listed(Regular 223) for your combination in a manual and shoot in your Imp. gun.  

Fireforming is now complete.

What worked best for me fire forming 222Rem mag AI was to find the lowest pressure IMR powder for the 222rem mag. And load it to a compressed load. Again, check the IMR pages and find what the lowest pressure developed by a powder for that cartridge. I then used a heavier than normal bullet, loaded to touch the lands, checking to make sure that the combination doesn't exceed the max cup.

Fireforming went very well.

A compressed load touching the lands keeps the cartridge from being forced forward in the chamber during the strike of the firing pin.
