A man hiking with his dog was mauled by a grizzly bear on a trail near Eagle River on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.
He suffered lacerations to his head, back and leg, said police Sgt. Cameron Hokenson.
It happened on a private trail above Eagle River Road, about two miles from the Eagle River nature center.
The man, who hasn't been identified, called 911 to report he'd been attacked by a bear, Hokenson said.
The bear, with three cubs, ran off after the attack authorities said.
The man was able to walk about a half mile after he was hurt to get closer to the road, authorities said.
The man's worst injury appeared to be to his leg, and he used a shirt as a tourniquet to stop bleeding before medics arrived, Hokenson said.
The man was hiking alone with his dog, which wasn't hurt, authorities said.
