Winchester 1300 Defender for hunting?
« on: February 06, 2004, 04:19:22 AM »
I am in the process of purchasing a 1300 Defender from someone privately, and was wondering if these are legal for hunting? If not, what would it take to make it legal? I thought with the synthetic stock, pistol grip, etc. it would be a great gun for coyote in close quarters? Thanks for any help or info you might have.

Oh and by the way, I reside in The Peoples Republic of Hellinois

A close friend of mine uses one for deer hunting here in ohio, the only restriction here is you are only allowed 3 shells in the gun at a time,so you have to use a plug.
The early bird get's the worm, but the second mouse get's the cheese.....

You need to check local regulations, though it more than likely is perfectly legal.  Here in SC the only laws we have for a shotgun come into play when hunting migratory birds, and that is that you have to plug to no more than 3 rounds capacity and use no larger than 10ga (you'd have a hard time finding an 8ga anyways :)).  Other than that if it's legal to own, it's legal to hunt with. Still, check the local regs to be safe.
