I didn't either , in my case the gun was used but looked little if any fired. I say that because after one mag full it was noticeable on the bbl that it had been fired.

I should have said I use a G29SF. the original 20/29 are just too big in the grip for my tastes. I put a Lone Wolf bbl in and a non captured Wolff 21# spring in. It handles evertything from Blaser 200gr TMJ to Buffalo Bore 155 DPX and DoubleTap 230 lead, sheboygin, ha! It's not bigger than a G23, and the 10mm has been used by drunk rednecks to shoot craters on the moon! ha.

I've had a few "name brands", but the favorites was the two KelTec P-11's I had.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Anyone try the Diamondback?  It is slightly smaller than the Kel-Tec.  Hard to pull back though, but will fit in your back pocket.  Double action only.

Yes, the Kel-Tec is a name brand, made in Florida.  They make a compact 9mm, 380, a 50 round double stack 22 mag pistol, a 14 shot double tube pump shotgun, and the Sport Utility 223 which uses AR mags.  The SU 223 has a folding stock, and the forarm folds out and makes a bi-pid.  It had a piston gas system, not the blowback of the AR.

However, back to the Diamondback, it is also made in Florida, and when I held it, it would fit in my back pocket.  It was however hard to cock.  Has a strong spring for size.  Don't know how reliable they are, just wondering if anyone has shot them.

I don't see how they can fit 50 rounds in the mag without it jamming.  Might be a good weapon if it is reliable.  Lots of firepower and a 22mag is as powerful as a 32 auto.

The Kel-Tec PM-30 has a 30 round not 50 round magazine. The demand is far out stripping production capacity and they are in constant back order status. Many dealers are taking advantage of the demand to jack prices up well above MSRP when they get their hands on one.

Sorry, I thought it was 50.  Might be cheaper to shoot than a 9mm, but it's not a compact pistol from what I remember.  Read on another forum one guy bought a Diamondback, didn't like it, traded it for the Ruger.  I do like the Ruger with the built in laser.  My wife likes a laser on her pistol.  She doesn't want to take time to aim it in an emergency.  Makes sense to me.

I have a way to solve that problem.  Smoke detectors, flashlights, and laser sights get batteries changed every time the time changes to daylight savings time and back in the spring and fall.  Change them whether they need it or not.  Solves the battery going dead problem.  I use LED flashlights now and batteries last far longer.  Anything else anyone can think of?

Right, I've got to take my wife out shooting more often.  I prefer, I'm drawing a blank, the sights that glow in the dark and/or fiber optic.

I own several compact 9mm pitols but none of the mini compacts.  Thhe ones I have are an SR9c, Taurus PT111, Baby Eagle compact and a Whitness compact.  They all have funtioned flawlessly with any ammo I have loaded in it.  The only issue I ever had with any of them was with the Taurus PT111 which was an ammo issue (actually Primers)  I bought a batch of Russian primers and the Taurus had some failures to fure due to the primers being very hard.  With Winchester and CCI primers I never had a problem.  Of all of them I think the SR9c makes the best CCW gun with the Taurus a close second place the others though compact need a holster to carry it.

Hi Mike:

Look at the laser that mounts on the side of the frame, very thin, normal holster will still fit. About $89 bucks.

Had a odd thing happen with my LC9 . Was shooting and it failed to fully chamber a round. The slide was hard to retract . There was a live round in part way . So I reload the mag including the round I removed from the chamber. Gun shot about 4 times then the same thing. It happened one more time same round. Seems the suspect round had the bullet seated a bit deeper than the rest. They were commericaly reloaded . I don't know if the bullet was that way from the start or if it got pushed back while being cycled . But it makes one aware of the stress a round goes thru. going from mag to chamber.

SHOOTALL - I had a similar experience with my LC9.  The one bad round chambered but wouldn't fire.  I put it back in several times and just got a "click."  We can't blame the guns for stuff like that.

Some years back I bought a Para LDA for carry.  Reason I bought it all the controls are the same as my 1911s except that it is DA.  Great 9mm, not a mini for sure but very concealable in cooler weather.  Warm weather I carry a Ruger LCP .380.   Back to the Para, no longer offered, was pricey, but very, very accurate at 25 yds.  It seems to feed everything I run through it with no problems, did have some FTF in the first 200 rounds, but none since that, pushing a 1000-1200 now.  It is equiped with night sights, so that is sufficient for me.  I just make sure as with all my 1911s that the slide and rails are well lubricated.

I have 2 Para Ord. but neither are made any more.  One is a Carry 9 the other a PDA, both are very accurate and reliable.  I'll just hang on to these as I really like them.  One bad feature is that he magazines will no interchange, not a big problem as I have 3 for each pistol.

Don't knock the Kel-tecs just because they are affordable.  My daily carry is a P-11.  I've never had so much as a hick-up from it.  Feeds, fires, extracts as well or better than guns costing twice as much and is just as accurate too.

It's the photos of big chunks missing that concern me most.

What photo's are you speaking of? I'm a long time member of the two major Kel Tec forums  KTrange & KTOG, and I've never ever heard of a Kel Tec coming apart in any manor.

Jeff Quinn posted a pic of one on facebook in the last couple of days that had blown up.

while I am not as into Kel-tek as some here, I can say that without details I remain skeptical.  I have seen Colt Anacondas, Ruger Super Blackhawks, S&W model 66, Colt made 1911's, and even a Bersa Series 95 wrecked by various means.  I have yet to see or hear about any quality polymer gun to suffer any damage unless neglect or abuse was involved

I have posted before about a Glock 20 that blew up , cause mostlikely was a double load. Slide came off m mage blew out and came apatr , top two rounds in mag went off. Only part we could not find was mag spring. Put slide back on and fired with a new mag and factory ammo.

The one I saw was a .22 magnum.  There are others to be found using Google Image search.

OK I stand corrected, searching just now I did find such posts on KTOG but in every case it was due to using too hot ammo, which Kel Tec warns not to do in the first place,  or to serious neglect of the firearm. Those issues can relate to almost any firearm you can name, not just Kel Tec.

I've got 3 kel teks 2 p3at's and 1 pf9. The first p3at was my carry gun for a couple of years until my son needed a small reliable pistol to replace his ppk that was stolen from his home. I got a pf9 to replace it and it has been my carry gun for the last 3 years, also very reliable, and it fits my hand better and has better sights. The second p3at is now my wife's carry gun, smaller and lighter than her Ruger LCR and much lighter than her ppk. I shot around 300 rounds thru it before I let her carry it. All are reliable with their ammo of choice, but I won't trust any gun til it has had a few 100 rounds thru it.
