Billy, you are right, I forgot all the Federal lands that they own.  The banks own a lot of mortgages, home, buildings, etc., but the Feds own half of all the land west of the Mississippi and most of Alaska.  National forests, national grasslands, military bases, deserts, etc.  Reagan had the Grace commission do a study and the government could sell off a lot of the land and buildings they own and pay off the national debt.  For instance they own a big section of Wakiki beach in Hawaii.  It was bought during WWII as a place for officers to relax when they came in to Pearl for resupply and shore leave.  Now it is worth millions and they really don't need it.  I have been to Key West.  They have a small unused naval base down there.  Only cruise ships dock there and have to be trammed through the base (which is vacant) to the center of town for the tourists.  They could sell this base to a cruise company or to hotel-motel developers for a pretty good sum.  It is no longer needed as it isn't big enough for but one or two ships at a time.  With the super carriers, they need large deepwater ports.  If the feds eventually become bankrupt, you better believe lands near developed areas would be sold, because you can't tax Americans enough to pay what they owe. 
 
They could also consolidate military bases with joint training.  In Alabama, Ft. Rucker is about 60-75 miles north east of Eglin Air force base.  Eglin is 10 times larger.  Ft. Rucker is used for helicopter training for the Army.  Eglin also has helicopter training for the Air Force.  They could close Ft. Rucker and move the training to Eglin and train with the Air Force.  Problem is congresscritters and senators from various states don't want any bases closed in their states.  The military should make that decision as to what is most cost effective under the secretary of Defence no matter what branch of service. 
 
I vote they should sell a lot of bases and use the money to buy land along the Mexican border for bases.  Would cut down on illegal immigration real quick with artillery training, bombing training etc, live fire training for tanks and soldiers.  Kill two birds with one stone without spending a whole lot of money.  They could plant mines for training.

Big government intruding in private business and trying to sway markets with uncompetitive strangle holds. Government should stay out of the way. That is the best conductor for business to emerge, grow, come, stay and thrive.

And the easiest way for them to let  workers struggle, starve and die.

At least it would fair.

Fair? On what planet? There is no "fair" in capitalism. Big money wins always. Capitalism is not democracy. Capitalism is rule by the strongest--- measured in $.

Capitalism is the reason you have a workable computer to sit behind and type nonsense, then send it to where other people can read it.
If it were not for our capitalist system we would all be living in poverty similar to North Korea,Cuba, or other communist countries, where people wonder if they will get anything to eat today. Unless you are one of the central planners, that get to toss bread crumbs to those living under the central planners.
The fact is that poor people in the most capitalist countries can expect average income levels 8 times higher than poor people in the least capitalist countries. Life expectancy is also much higher in capitalist nations compared to non capitalist nations.

Capitalism is fair. Everyone has equal opportunity. You want to make more money, go find a way to do it. There are millions that have done just that.

I don't know where you got that. I was just using Goldman Sachs as an example of a corporation with a bigger budget than the US national debt. Meaning, they sure as hell don't need tax breaks at the expense of US taxpayers! They should pony up more--- they certainly made more off the US.

You do understand that tax breaks are tools the govt. uses to insure a company expands creating more jobs and in reality more money comming in from taxes. One surely must be ignorant to believe that a cooporation no matter its size pays taxes THEY PASS THEM ON TO CONSUMERS . So in reality a tax break makes a company competitive in the world markets. Or if an American company can sell products in the USA maybe we won't send our wealth to China .

As shoot all said the companies pass along taxes and build them into the price of the good.  But they still send Trillions to Washington and to the state they operate in.  Those trillions are taxes in the form of direct taxes on the company as well as unseen payroll taxes.  If they could lower taxes across the board prices will fall and more people will be employed, creating more disposable income that will raise demand for new goods the demand for more goods raises the ammount of money collected by washington that are able to spend it on the social programs the liberals love.  So raising taxes decreases the amount of $ available for social programs and there fore are against and hurt the poor the most.  A true Liberal would want lower taxes to raise the employment rate and give the Poor more in social transfer of wealth.

And now Obama wants to do all manufacturing what he did to GM.
So let's see what he did.
He bailed out the company and stole money from Bond and share holders.
The stock wentfrom $38 a share to just over $21
He closed dealerships that excersied their first amendment rights and donated to the Republican party.
He then gave stock to the auto workers union.  And have saddled the company with 40 billion in debt and made them built a car (the Volt) that is not selling.  GM went from No1 to number 5 in sales.
So now he wants to do that to the whole manufacturing industry.
Wow sounds like a great way to ruin to country and make us all slaves to his demand market.
