CCW Recommendation Help
« on: February 06, 2004, 11:30:47 AM »
I need to tap into the experience and expertise of the rest of you out there.  I currently own a full-size HK USP40 and Sig P220 .45  :excuseme: but being a fairly skinny guy have a heck of a time carrying them concealed without putting on lots of layers or heavy sweatshirts.  My main problem is the grip and not really barrel length.  I've tried carrying SOB IWB but don't feel it's the safest or most accessable way to carry.  I feel more comfortable carrying strong side IWB.
So, I've started to look around for a 1911 with a Commander slide and Officer frame.  The only one I've found so far is a Kimber Compact CDP II but being a college kid (and a born tight-wad) it was a little pricey.  I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions.  I'm not opposed to buying a used model either.  I'm planning (sadly) on getting rid of my Sig to help fund the purchase so I can have two pistols with similar controls.  As long as I could keep it around $700 or so I could justify spending some of my money saved up for penny-beer-nights. :toast:

Consider a Colt Defender in 45ACP. A great gun. I carry all the time.

PARA LDA CCW. It is my everyday ccw piece, I would not trade it for any other gun. IIRC it was $760, tax included.

You might find a used Kimber Pro CDP for under $700 - would be hard to wear one out.  Great for carry.
