Your not all wrong--but it is fun to play--especially when it can be done on the cheap. If you mess up--what have you messed up?  Its not a Smith,Colt, Luger or a Walther, and the results can be very satisfying.

I just saw this thread again and was reminded that I had posted to it when it was active back in 2012.
The ammo for the Nagant revolver is again on sale at Grafs.....a price lower than 8 years ago. Also available is brass for reloading - I do not recall that being available years ago. In addition, Grafs has the DEWCs for the case....98 grain .308” diameter.
The bullet makes me wonder if one could use Speer 100 grain Plinker bullets or any of the 110 grain bullets for the M1 Carbine since they are all .308 and will fit into the case.
