Buying the Black Vote...Again

The latest bid in buying the black vote:  Washington DC  is going to pay  9th graders  $5.95/hour to attend summer school.

Why are we paying people good  money when they're perfectly willing to fail for free?

This summer isn’t the first time the city has paid students to learn. The District allowed a Harvard University group to pay about 3,000 middle-school students up to $100 a month for good grades during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years. Grades overall didn’t improve significantly.
Brown and Ward 8 Councilman Marion Barry, who created the summer jobs program in the 1970s, said this summer is not the first time students have been paid for classroom time, but could not provide details.
Gerren Price, the associate director of youth programs for the Department of Employment Services, said he believes this is a first-time program.

The poor are their own worse enemies.  No hard work ethic, either in school or finding a job to work.  The government welfare system created this monster with $4 trillion and several generations of parasites.  It is all going to come crashing down one day and there will be riots.  Get prepared.

Trade  school  is  a  better  choice  for  these  type  kids  .

That is about the dumbest thing you can do IMHO. Let me ask do you want a plumber , HVAC service tech. or electrician who failed out of school in your home working ? Do you want them adding up the cost on your invoice ? Would you want the risk of a not so smart person doing work that not only could lead to your being uncomfortable or worst sick because they were not smart enough to do the work correctly ?
I say this after 40 years as a tradesman in three trades as a Master and journeyman. And 8 years teaching trade school at night and about 11 as a appeals board member for the county building / court system.
Consider if plumbers do a poor job there are not enough doctors and nurses to cure the infected .

They  not  going   to  be   doctors  lawyers   or   white   collar  workers.  Prisons   are   overflowing . What  would  you  have  them  do ,  Stay  on   welfare  for  life.  Youve   got  to  start   somewhere .

Maybe common labors not trades people . You do realize these people can't read alot of the time forget taking measurements . They can't get to work most lose driving lic. Most can't remember what they were doing the day before .
 
OK what we need to do is first get rid of drugs even if it is nessary to make selling them a capital offense . Second get rid of the bad teachers . Get rid of the school admn that won't enforce rules and disicpline . NO MORE bumping up to the next grade level if you can pass test. Can that no child left behind. No activity that distracts from school work. This would be a start there is alot more that could be done.
 
How bad is it in the trades because of thinking like this ? maybe one applicant in 30 can cut it and become a tradesman .
 
Or to put it in perspective why don't you consider buying a $70,000.00 backhoe and put a flunky driving ( the cannot be called operator for sure) it and another one laying out the work ( keep in mind the work will be covered with concrete and finished floor products in most cases and missing layout is expensive ) and see what return your investment brings back. Think about it do you have any idea what "construction" involves today ? Most ground work for plumbers is mesured off points on survey markers these days not walls or batter boards unless the plumber puts them up himself.

I  see   your   point  of  veiw  .  They   will   continue  to  be  a  burden  on   society  from   cradle  to  grave  unless  some  drastic   changes  are  made.
