Accurate Molds

I tell ya, Tom at Accurate molds is amazing. Last week I emailed him my thoughts on what would make a good design for a paper patched bullet in my 416 Taylor. The chamber has a very long throat, but it's built on a Win M70 so it has a short magazine. I couldn't find any bullet designs that would both fill the throat and fit in the mag. Well, a day later he emails back and says to look at his online catalog. Number 41-390-P is my design just like I described it to him. Of course I ordered one right away, and am looking forward to seeing how it flies. It would also work naked in a 405 Winchester, so it's good for dual use. My kudos to Tom, that's some kind of service. So if y'all have been trying to find good bullet designs for paper patching, or just naked bullets, check him out. If it's bigger than 30 cal, he can make it happen for you fast at a very reasonable price.

I got tuned into Accurate thru a friend that was having patched bullet moulds made in a variety of diameters.
 So far I've got two moulds from Tom, I haven't been able to shoot the second one yet, but the first one works just plumb good to the 1k line.

I finally got to shoot the 416 with that new Accurate bullet this weekend. Wow, I am impressed! It fits my rifle just right, and 395gr. at 2100 fps is nothing to sneeze at, especially since it put 5 into a little less than 1.5 inches at 200 yards with just a 4X scope. This paper patch stuff is the only way to go, especially for big guns where the factory bullets cost $1 to $2 each. I can shoot mine for next to nothing and get equal or better performance.

I hope to run this 44 patched bullet at 8-900 and 1000 sometime between now and a week from now. If it holds up as well as it has to 600 I will be shooting it in the Creedmoor portion of the nationals in Raton.
 Still waiting for a chance to shoot the 45 but the bullet sure looks like it out to work great.

Cool! Which one of the designs are you shooting? What sort of rifle? I'd guess a black powder one if you're shooting 44s at 1000 yds. Good luck, hope you get great scores!

It's the 43-470P. Running it in the 44-77 Shiloh rough rider 30 in heavy barrel, with 78 gr kik1.5 a felt wad and a rubberized cork gasket wad. Bullet is patched to bore + so it's seated deep in the case. Chrono says it's doing 1259.
