I'm perhaps a bit crazy but I carried my Charter with a 280 gr WFN loaded over enough 296 to get 1100 fps.  Recoil was sharp enough to take the fun out of shooting pretty quick, as my fingers would be bleeding from the trigger guard, and other parts rapping on them, with one cylinder full.  But it was a carry gun just in case I had to get too close to a big bear, which we have up here.  Some thief  has the gun now, though he doesn't own it, contrary to some opinions.

If I were to load for one again I would use a lot less powder.  800 fps with your 380 gr is a very deadly package and quite easy to handle.  Use the slowest powder which will burn pretty clean, and that is Accurate 9.  It's about 10 % faster than 296 or H110 , ignights easier than those powders and burns cleaner when pressure are low as yours will be with 800 fps loads.
