Heat Hurts Elk Herd
« on: August 03, 2012, 02:18:22 PM »
Just heard that the latest transplanted Elk, from Kentucky, didn't fare so well. Six  cows, a young bull, and 3 calves died. They are saying they believe the cause is stress from relocation coupled with the drought and severe heat. Here's a link to the story;

id believe that. it has been awful hot till here lately.im not sure ,even tho they may of roamed here once, that our climate is really suited for them.MO has been a bake oven the last couple summers.hopefully the heat resistant ones will carry on that trait and reproduce.
