HELP!!!!
« on: August 04, 2012, 12:32:03 PM »
I just got a Ruger Mk III standard pistol for my daughter who is going off to college.   She loves this pistol and is excellent with it on targets.     My 15 year old son decided he wanted to clean it for her after a day of burning a brick of 22s at the range.    I was watching and my son cleaned everything perfectly.  He then reinserted the empty magazine but it was rotated 180 degrees! (inserted in a reverse manner).    He palmed pressed the mag up until it jammed.    Now the mag will not come out.   I have disassembled the grips and I can see where the magazine catch is jammed up under a depression 3/4 up the grip frame on the left side.

Anyone ever experienced this and how the heck can the magazine be removed?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the link BH73  :) ..... I read the posts on the link plus a few other forums.....in any event it was indeed the magazine safety catch hooking into the magazine jamming things up. >:(     I tried to order one of the Mag-Out tools from their website but the site wouldn't let me order...... :(

So I did as another enterprising soul had written  :) .....he used a tape measure as the shim to follow around the magazine.  ;)    I simply disassembled my son's 12' tape measure and used the butt end.....slid right up the magazine with a little RemOil and with a slight push then pull and the mag was free. :D

All is well.  ;D ;D ;D

Good to hear.  I knew there was another thread on this same thing somewhere else but being late...well the day's energy was dwindling.   :D    Glad it's all to the good now.  Little things like this wile a bit of a pain in the butt, are good tools to remind us to not get complacent. :)
