Women's floor exercise gold medalist...
« on: August 08, 2012, 04:27:15 AM »
This little gold medalist chides the International Olympic Committee for it failure to honor slain Olympians... their faces must be red..   Perhaps the IOC needed this reminder.
I understand Aly Raisman took time to sing a song called "Star of David" to honor the 11 athletes and one German policeman murdered by terrorists in the 1972 Munich games .

May the Almighty God, the true "God of love", richly bless little Alexandra Raisman..

That young lady is a class act!
She showed class before and after winning last night.
Her parents and all America should be proud of her.

I must not have seen what you saw. When asked about Munich, it seemed to be the last thing on her mind. She seemed to recover from the unexpected question by saying she would have participated if they did something honoring Munich. What was she supposed to say?
I doubt she put her shot at the gold medal at risk to make a statement about Munich. More like "here is what I want to do in my floor exercise, what music would go with it". Being Jewish, its a song she was probably familiar with.

But she is a class act.

I did enjoy the "what goes around, comes around" moment, when she got the bronze on a tie-break, after losing one that way..
Really enjoyed seeing Bela Caroly stand up for her in the stands.

POW POW:
She did better than that,  Here's her floor exercise...listen to the Hava Nagila playingh as her accompaniment for her floor exercise.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11lu4TudL4U

Here's an article from the NY post:

Aly did as much as she could within Olympic strictures...and she has raised the consciousness of the world.  See the photo in the corner of the NY Post front page...terrorist murders of the 1972 Olympic games.

In the NY times article, she admits the music selection was not intentional.
I think the press put more meaning behind it than she did.
A hero, none the less.
I was pulling for her from day 1.
She was getting it done without all the teenage diva stuff some of the others showed.

I thought the whole team was a class act. I am not a summer olympics fan but it was exciting to watch those girls compete.
Hi NSA! Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?

So why should the olympics not honor 11 of their athletes murdered by terrorists at the Olympic games, just 40 years ago?  Perhaps the IOC is a bunch of sensless bigots...such as we see everywhere in daily life. !

....But then, this is not the only thing they screwed up in these London Olympic games.....

So why not wait until the 50th or the 100th. You could also asks the Germans to built another monument in Munich and declare a National Day of Mourning.

While we are talking about womens gymnastics, check this out.
McKayla Maroney is not a diva either if she can laugh at this.
