July 2012-Hottest month on record
« on: August 08, 2012, 08:01:52 AM »
Weather channel just came out, and declared that this past July, was the hottest month on record, breaking the old record of July 1932 during the dust bowl days. I looked up some old picture's from then. And I seen a picture of an Alfonso Gore, father of future VP Al Gore, and his comment was, ''Disa heat wave to much for mya monkey, I'ma gonna go back to the old country where there ainta' so much cars running around heating things up!!'' And some of you guys thing that global warming is a new thing!! ;D gypsyman

It's certainly been great for growing stuff around here. we had ripe termaters in July and don't usually get them until end of august. Our lawn usually is becoming dormant with the dry weather of august, but this year it's thick and lush in august. It's so think it doesn't dry out even after a few days without rain.

July was definitely a scorcher, with lots of 90+ days around here. But to compensate, the weather has been really nice. Not many cold fronts or severe storms like we usually get in summer. Superb fishing. But water is unusually warm, and I think there will be fish kills in shallower lakes.

NowAugust is a different thing from July. Drastically cooler. 50s at night. 80s during the day. Mostly sunny. I could handle weather like that year round.

July wasn't bad a couple days above 110. This week is much worse we have had 4 straight days above 110 and supposed to have a few more. Fortunately about 4 more weeks and it will drop to a cool 90 for us.

Now it looks like it's going to be a cold august here. High around 70 for about a week. Should be closer to 85.

Well, it sure wasn't a record breaker out here on the left coast.  It's very, very comfortable.  We have had a couple of days above 95, but the Pacific air conditioner cools it right down.

Looks like a good time to live in Alaska.  Last night it was 45, expecting a high of 69 today.  Currently 59 degs at 11:20.  No rain in sight for the next week.  We have had the rainest summer I have ever seen up here.  Blue berries have been ripe for two weeks already.  Afraid they will all be gone by bear season.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
