45 LC modified to shoot ACP?
« on: August 08, 2012, 10:59:04 AM »
I have seen 45 LC revolvers modified to shoot 45 ACP rounds using moonclips.  How hard would it be to modify a handi-rifle to do this?

It would probably work, you would just have a longer jump to rifling

A while back someone posted they were putting a rubber "O" ring around the extraction groove on a 45ACP and shooting it in a 45 Colt Handi.  I have never tried to "o" ring a 45 ACP and am not reccommending that you or anyone else try this.   If you handload it would seem easier just to download the 45 Colt to 45 ACP levels if  you want a slower projectile.

I know this would require buying brass, but how about just using some .45 Auto Rim brass?  It is just a rimmed .45 ACP.  Then again, it kind of defeats the purpose of using available ACP brass.

I came into 500 rounds of .45 Auto Rim ammo a few months ago, and I thought I would use it in my .45/.410 Survivor. Unfortunately, it won't work, the rim is too thick.

Thanks for the replies.  I shoot alot of 45 ACP (1911) and am wanting to come up with an inexpensive way to shoot it from my BC Carbine.  I'm not crazy about the cost of having a stub done, so I'm wanting to go a different route.
