Leupold m8 4x compact and m8 4x extended e. r.
« on: August 09, 2012, 08:46:00 AM »
I have each of these markings on Leupold scopes.  Is there any significant difference in the intended use or manufacture of these ?  I had assumed they were both E.E.R. handgun scopes.  Is the marking the only difference and otherwise the same ?  Richard

Leupold has made both M8 4X28mm Compacts that were designed for rimfire rifles (60 yard parallax) AND M8 4X28mm EER handgun scopes as well.   Years ago the compact had a fine duplex and the EER had a regular duplex, but I have no idea if that changed over the years of production.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

The easiest way to find out is call or write Leupold, provide them the model and serial numbers, they'll tell you exactly what it is and the specs.

Of course it is always good to go to the Source.  It is also good to poll the experts here and see what knowledge is floating around.   Thanks.  rp
