hornady 30 cal. ssp too old to use?

I will be using my 30 herret (14 ") to hunt deer this year. I have about 140 hornday 130 gr ssp. The lead tips have oxidized some. Anyone use these bullets in sililar condition and what were the results? I do have nosler 125 bt's as a second choice.

Yep, too old if oxidized.  Send them to me for disposal.  ;)
 
If the oxidization bothers you any, spin the lead tip in 0000 steel wool by hand to polish the lead up.

I will take yuor advise and use a little steel wool. I have about 40 cases preped. I have been using imr 4198 powder. I do have some Re-7. Anyone use that with this weight bullet? What load did you use?

wish i could keep bullets around long enough to oxodize! ;)  They dont last long here!

I know you have already had this answered, but the hunting loads I used for my first elk at 16 are the ones I still use.  We go through very little .30-06.  The oxidation didn't make a difference on a 350 yard shot or a 50 yard shot, both of which took elk.  My mom also smacked an oryx at 300 yards with it.  That's about as far as I'll ever shoot at big game.

I know that you already have your answer but the 125gr Nosler BTs are my favorite for my 10" .30 Herrett.

I can now answer this question as opening day gun season was today in KY.No they're not! Shot a small 4 pointer today. One shot kill. Deer went about 30 yards is all.
