I'm so excited!!!
« on: August 10, 2012, 12:30:55 AM »
Hi guys :D   Is this the early stages of BUCK fever???  Am I the only one that can't sleep when fall approaches.  Can't get the deer out of my head.  Bow, rifle, shotgun, muzzle loader what to use where to go first???  Deer, birds and other critters to be hunted...I think it's the beginning of the fall sensory over load ;D ;D ;D

Have a fun and safe hunting season!

. I'm so with you Bullet, the upcoming season takes up my mind from sun up till my eyes close. Reading and planning, digging out camo and misplaced equipment, planning range days etc. Best of all though, is patterning the critters behind my house, planting my food plots and searching for perfect trees for a stand. When I walked out the door the other morning I could feel fall in the air, feel it coming, absolutely can't wait!:-)

Golly Gee !! :D
Today is the first day in weeks that the Temp hasn't gone into the 80 deg mark with high humidity.
I'm not even thinking of looking at a rifle 'til it cools down, waay down.

Our S.C. Lowcountry rifle season starts in mid august so we gotta kinda pretend about "fall coming" as we put on snake boots and light our thermacell skeeter repellers.. :-)

We field dress as soon as they quit kicking, 4 wheel em to a truck and they're hanging in a walk-in within the hour. Great time of year to take a buck in velvet, but can be a miserable time to hunt.  J

The deer could smell me a mile away, sweat and mosquito repellent. :-[

Most of the stands are boxes looking over huge fields, 3 are sheetmetal ,oven#1, oven #2,etc. Half the guys use cigarette smoke as a cover scent but with such big areas to hunt, lots of the critters never smell a thing.

It finally cooled down here last week, but it looks like it will  make 100 or so again by this Thursday. It's hard to get excited until the humidity drops and it gets into the 40's-50's consistently overnight. I did make sure my daughters 20 gauge was on today after putting a new battery in her red dot, youth season starts Sept 15.

did a little scouting this weekend. got bug bit. it's still summer, but it's getting closer. I'm going to get by bow out of storage next few days and buy some arrows.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Bow season starts here Oct. 1st. Haven't even shot my bow yet. A freind from high school moved back here from AZ recently and has never muzzle loader hunted so I've been helping get started into that. Should have final sight in session Friday. that'll still give me a few days to shoot the bow.
