Savage 220

I am in the market for a new slug gun, & the Savage 220/212 seems to get good reviews, about the only problem I have heard about is that they are getting a reputation for missfiring, Anyone know if this is still an issue? Thanks msn

Not sure. But its not the only issue w/ it. I say get a good H&R USH.

DeerSlayer, Thanks, if you have any other info on the Savage could you let me know.  Yes, I really like the H&R USH, I have never shot one but know people who really like them alot, They are a little heavy but I do mostly stand hunting so Ijust might get one.  I have heard that the USH did (or some) had a problem with the  ejection, would you know anything about that?? again thanks for the reply, msn

Savages had problems ejecting 3"chamber shells. USH shouldnt be any trouble to you.

Not mine. Pull hard to eject and make sure your scope mounts give enough room for ejection, and no...NO miss fires at all from my Savage 220. 3 years. (maybe 2...I'd have to check...) ;D

Had a Savage 212, and never had a problem with it. Bought a new Savage 220 as soon as it hit the market, not one problem with 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells. I took the Savage 220 to the range, and shot every kind of 20 gauge on the market, to see which gave the best performance and accuracy. In all my shooting of the 220, I NEVER had any problems.  I know a lot of guys that have the Savages 20 and 12 Gauge slug guns, not one has had a problem. All I shoot in my Savage 220 is 3 inch shells now (Remington Accu-tips). Ejection has not been an issue at all. My buddy just bought the 212 Savage, he has been shooting all the slugs he can find, to see which gives him the best accuracy as well, he has not had any problems at all with his. I have, and will recommend the Savage to anyone looking for a great slug gun!

DeerSlayer777, please give me some references of the problems you "heard" of!

I have a 220. Never a misfire with handloads or numerous factory rounds. Groups an inch with Federal Barns expander polytipped. Launches @ 1800 - 1840 fps. Box says 1900 but I'll take it.
