Custom shop encore barrel?
« on: August 15, 2012, 12:51:06 PM »
Hi guys :D   How much value is given to an encore pistol barrel because it was made in the custom shop?  Are these barrels more accurate than a typical barrel of the same length?

Thank you,

Bulletstuffer

not really worth much more than a factory barrel if it's just a tc custom shop

I believe in what Griz said. Alot of times a company with market the same barrel custon shop or other name within the company as a sales promotion I have had both that shoot very well and both that didn't shoot quite to par. Only reference I can attest to is custom shop seems to be better at service, HM2C Lou

Never owned a custom shop Encore barrel. Have owned great shooters and not so great shooters in regular Encore barrels. The two best shooters I've ever owned came from MGM. Not cheap but worth the money. First was a 7.62 x 39 with a .311 bore. Probably would have shot more accurately if I had used better ammo. Second and the one I will definately keep is a 20 inch chambered for the 45 Long Colt. Could have bought a 454 or 460 barrel but I wanted one chambered exactly for this round. Hornady XTP 240's and 250's over a good dose of Lilgun make this the most accurate Encore barrel I've ever owned. Cloverleafs at 100 yards with a hot pistol round ain't bad in my book. Someone that could hold it steadier could probably shoot a better group.

I had the custom shop make me two 300 whisper barrels.  Both are excellent shooters.  I think the custom shop was more into making the barrels in calibers not offered as standard and non standard barrel lengths.  I miss having them around.  :'( :'( :'(

T/C factory vs T/C custom holds no value over the other. When I see these for resale the custom marking means nothing too me, but only the barrel characteristics I desire. Accuracy is comparable.

SSK Industries make true custom barrels, and they hold a higher value since they are truly custom.
