Ordering an Accurate mold
« on: August 20, 2012, 11:42:02 AM »
I need some advice.
I'm ordering an Accurate mold for my H&R in 500 S&W.
Should I order the mold .500 or .501 or even larger? Remember I haven't cast for over 10 years.
Thanks for your time and replys

Have you slugged the barrel yet?
an unloaded wepon is equal to the same mass and volume as a rock.

At least .501", I'd order as big as it will chamber, doing a chamber cast would tell you(see FAQs), my 500S&W Handi shot .501" jacketed(385gr Rems) just fine, .502" cast would be even better than .501" if it will cast that big. Most jacketed .500" bullets I've measured are undersize at .499", my bore is on the large side of SAAMI specs, so larger cast would be advised.

I can't slug my barrel because I still have not got my Permit to Acquire approved by the government.
So my H&R is secured at the local dealer's facility.
Just keen to get ahead.
I suppose I could order the Accurate mold to be .502 and then buy a .501 sizing die, No?
