We got nothing interesting like that up in Wisconsin.  Couple timber rattler's in western part of the state but they are very few and far between. Never heard of widow's or recluses around here either, although that is fine, not big on having to check boots and gloves before putting them on... No scorpion's, gator's--- nothing.  Maybe get to see a big rat snake once in a while if you're lucky...

Anytime I'm down south I'm always kicking around trying to find that stuff...

I was told by one of my old Army Sgt's from Wisconsin, that you did indeed have a deadly snake. He said it was mostly white and would crawl up to where the Sun didn't shine, and freeze you to death! (The Wisconsin Snow Snake) ;)

Needles and Spirithawk,
i see your point about the eyes, but notice how red they are, could have been caused by the vehicle impact and forced  body fluid towards the head and discolored the pupils and distorted the head and eyes to some degree.

If you enlarge the picture the pits are visable . The head looks deformed to a point maybe from the accident . At any rate it's a good snake now !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Right!
And if they get riled up enough that can become quite aggressive! I have actually had a couple to chase me! One paid a high price for doing it though!!

Very few states have Cotton Mouths.  Most of the water snakes killed are harmless.  Unfounded fear of snakes is very lady like.

All the gulf coast states and the eastern seaboard up to Delaware, and most of the states inside TX to FLA to NC to Oklahoma and back down to the Tex/Mex boarder. Good chunk of ground.

Back in my drinking days, state borders made little difference. I still woke up with cotton mouth ::)  Lighten up SM! We finally get a good topic going that everyone can relate to, and you want to get all negative on us.Not everyone on here likes snakes as much as you do.But hey! If you want to hang out with those slimy, ugly, sneaky, fang mouth rascals, then by all means do so.But it won't make you more of a man. It could make you more lady like, depending on where it bites you ;) Now fess up! Everybody has a phobia of some kind. I bet you even have one.........Right?

Here in NC, you better learn them. It kills me when I hear about"water moccasins" west of Raleigh. Not too common. In the water, they swim with about one third of the front of their bodies above water.Lotsa copperheads(called"pilots" by some locals),several diff. rattlers including a red one found in the hyde co. area{No where else in the world} Pit viper head, elliptical eyes.Saw two rattlers mating once. A sawyer extractor goes with me afield, one in the truck and boat.Like them or not,a bad snake can ruin your day.

Here we have moccasins near the Dismal swamp , nasty looking fellow. We are not supposed to harm them . That swamp has rattle snakes and copperheads and some say they see coral snakes on the coast . We do have several non poisin snakes but they can give you diease also.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
