ok folks... ID this breech plug

it appears to be 7/8" and accepts tha 777 or 11 cap... cuz tha 209 won't fit in tha hole....no!!
weighs damnear more than tha barrel does !!!!!!!! ::)
 
i  thank i needta change this critter out ;)
 
are there any pressure strength (standard or magnum charge) difference in the 5/8  vs  7/8 plugs ??
some yall SML folks will know what i'ma ask'n ;)

No clue on that plug but I agree that it looks like it needs upgradin'.  Maybe you can find a marine with some armory experience who can help you out? ;D
 
All other stuff being equal a smaller OD plug has less surface are for chamber pressure to push against therefore less force on the plug.  I have two SMLs with interference fit plugs epoxied in place and they have seen a lot of use and haven't moved so maybe the difference between a 5/8 and 7/8 inch threaded plug don't matter that much?

It was terrific with 777 Winchester primers. Loves 80gr. 777 powder, and a 245gr Powerbelt balistic tip.... I like the primer carrier barrel better, cause I don't have the rod on it, and I don't need a small screwdriver, to pick the spent primer out... That being said ... I never had a tool for it, as I just used a big screwdirver, or a couple of pieces of metal duct taped together, for a breach plug wrench.... I interchanged barrels and plugs a lot... Hope you have the success I had, it's a shooter! Never noticed that the plug was any heavier than the primer carrier plug... again, great success.....

the plug in question... w/777 winchester primer.... Somehow this pic got dropped from the above post... However, if you want to change to primer carrier.... as I stated it works perfectly..... It's just as I get older, I seem to want to get rid of extra stuff.....
