45-70 dies
« on: August 23, 2012, 09:40:29 AM »
I'm very new to reloading and found a cheap set of C&H 45-70 dies on eBay. I thought they looked good until I got my brass in. The ID sizer with the primer punch is way to small for the throat. Anyone know of replacements or just buy another "complete" set?

What do you mean by " way too small ? " some / most 45/70 dies do NOT use an expander ball like a bottle necked set does , you will have another die to flair the case mouth to allow for bullet seating .

I agree, there is no expander ball on this caliber. We need more info, as your new to loading maybe some pics would help...

BTW; C&H makes quality set of dies, they are just not as popular as the "big guys". I have a few sets and altho old, they work just as good today as they did in the 60's when they where new...

Ok, that makes since now. I remember reading about straight cases not expanding the mouths. I feel better now. To post pics I have to upload to photobucket or similar 1st? I'm doing everything on my IPhone, my computer took a nose dive on me.

Thanx

It works Tim.. I found a way! ::)

If your a bit savy with your Iphone its pretty easy, you just open and close window and copy paste... Not allot different really.

I do like Photobucket and they have a iphone app that is friendly.

My cell phone is for making phone calls, it doesn't even take pics, I have a camera for that and a great PC for posting pics, don't even have or need a laptop.....  I like the KISS principle!  ;)
