What's wrong with expensive sneakers? Almost all of us have our luxury items. I don't see this as any different from buying a $25,000 car when you can get one functionally as good for $20,000 or less. Anybody that owns more than one upland bird gun or 30-ish caliber hunting rifle has spent way more than the price of a pair of sneakers to do so.
I have often passed by run-down trailer houses with a new pickup truck and a $60,000 bass boat parked out front.
In this case, it's just a reminder that there's always someone out there willing to charge you more money for something. And if Nike weren't selling shoes like this, then somebody else would.
Priorities.
