Ind. senator says cyber-terrorism could cause havoc in United States  by WHAS11  WHAS11.com Posted on August 24, 2012 at 6:27 PM
Updated yesterday at 8:50 PM       (WHAS11) -- When you think about a potential terror threat in the United States, you probably think of planes, subway systems and power plants.

But one local senator on the Senate Intelligence Committee said there's another threat looming, cyber-terrorism.

U.S. Senator Dan Coats said he can't share the classified details of what he knows about the cyber-terrorism threat, but the United States faces threats from other countries, terrorist cells and free-lance hackers who could wreak havoc with a push of a button.

Congress has been unable to reach a compromise on competing bills aimed at sharing cyber security intelligence between private business and the government.

WHAS11’s Joe Arnold talked with Coats and has more with the senator, click the video player above.

Cyber-terrorism might even compare to the havoc that the media is raining on the Unitd States through basically the same carriers. ear
