  In the news this morning...Sgt R. Lee Ermy (the "gunny") was fired by GEICO...because he is "too conservative"!!
 
    Now, we have learned over the years the character of the Gunny.  For heaven's sake..he has finished his career as a Marine gunny sgt!! 
  What in blue blazes did the folks at Geico think they were getting;....a bunny kissing, tree hugging, politically-correct, self-despising liberal ?

    Geico is trying to sell insurance to the vast majority of Americans.
 
   So, I don't see any big surprise in their dropping him as a marketing symbol.

I think this has to do with political remarks he made. It was probably Geico's expectation that he is just a character actor, playing a specific role, and don't want politics to affect their sales. That seems reasonable to me. I believe the actor was known for an anti-Obama remark related to socialism and decline of this nation. Actors, and other public people, simply need to realize that they will lose work eventually if they have public political stances.

I don't have Geico, and would not recommend anyone to buy them.  It is ok for left wing loonie actors and actresses say bad things about conservatives, but let a conservative actor speak out and they get blackballed.

  I don't see any surprise in their dropping him..as I said in my original post, the REAL surprise is that they hired him in the first place!  Somebody at GEICO must be brain-dead..
 
  Of course there are a couple maxims at work here...REAL CONSERVATIVES don't drink Pepsi, nor do they insure with GEICO...or PROGRESSIVE either for that matter....all three being radical left brands.

If one has the time it would be good fun to have a gieko agent put much effort into quoting and customising your "fleet" vehicle insurance. Then tell em at the end they are too liberal for you. A few thousand of these costing them time and money will drive the point home.

who has geico insurance? i went to their website and it is twice as high as my local guys. and i have a good driving record.

Not that I use their insurance or even particularly like them, but I tend to believe their statement that they don't want their spokesmen to be political - after all, they fired another spokesman a couple of years ago for calling Tea Party members "retarded"" and "potential murderers".
