Rachel Corrie - Martyr for peace
« on: August 29, 2012, 06:32:14 AM »

"...when you see really evil things happen and the wrong is silenced and bulldozed over in a world where the loudest voice gets to be the truth, then God’s wrath starts to boil like lava in your gut. That’s how I have come to understand what God says to Cain in Genesis 4:10: “Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.” Blood really does cry out from the ground. You can spin-doctor it all you want. You can make martyrs like Rachel Corrie into “communist agitators” and “irresponsible brats.” You can dig up all sorts of reasons to discredit and dismiss them. But you can’t stop their blood from crying out."

My heart goes out to Rachel's family .
It's a shame whenever anyone dies out of their own stupidity.

Yes, very sad, she was a brave and compassionate girl.

I feel sorry for her family, but she had no business there. Just a trouble maker, and evidently not a very bright one. Theres another thread on this too. POWDERMAN.  ::) ::)

me, too.  the greatest shame is that a poor decision demanded her life as the blood-price.

She may be all you say she is or she may be a trouble maker how do you know ?
What she did was go to another country get involved in a way that maybe she should not have. She has no business interfearing in another countries business. I find it almost funny that those who keep preaching the US should stay out of other countries and their business support her in doing the same thing .

What I say is if they attack us we should hit them so they can't do it again . I also have said we should stay out of other countries business to include what Iran wants to have like a nuke, Just be ready to stop any advance on their part. I'm not in to nation building nor do I think everyone wishes to be like us. If it were up to me we would have gone into Mexico before the others that's our biggest threat and has been . But then I always think its better to get your own house in order before going looking for trouble.

SHOOTALL. Good post Sir. She went there to cause trouble and help trespassers and squatters that didn't belong there. She had no business telling Israel what they could do in their own country. All she did was give the ishmaelites and their supporters something else to whine about. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:(

There is a difference.  The US military brings tanks, warbirds, bombs, machine guns, cannons, grenades, etc.
Rachel Corrie just brought herself.

I never intended to be like her I would never go to another country and meddle in their business .
If you paid attention I only advocate stopping those who attack us and want to destory us. I do believe we should stay out of wars if possible . Culture or faith have little to do with it until they attack really but if that has been their culture to war and their faith includes the destruction of those who do not follow their faith then it is them not I who involve both. At lest people know I love my country and advocate protecting it . I have also read your post for the same amount of time and quite honestly don't have a clue where you stand on defending America.

Huh?... ???  You seem confused, again. Ms Corrie went there to protect and stand by innocent people and the rightful owners of property who were having their land, orchards, and homes confiscated by illegal occupiers on their land....ILLEGAL OCCUPIERS who have no legal, spiritual, moral right to be their. This she did in the true spirit of Christ in a Christ-like manner; much like Christ dealing with the same element 2000 years ago. In fact, many of the people she felt compelled to defend are descendants of Christ's extended family.
I believe Mr TM7 has that dead-on right... but I'll stroll out on a very thick branch and speculate that it won't make a dent.

I'll be glad to be wrong about that.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

There seems to be some who think others don't have compasion for her we do it is a shame she died it is also a shame the way people are treated around the world . There are better ways to protest or cause change than killing ones self. There is also a need to know how many side with you . There are many now crying foul now but where were they when she could have used their support at the site ? Had all those pointing fingers now stood with her the operator may have seen them and stopped .

"Truth is an explosive."

And the truth of Rachel Corrie's testimony and martyrdom is more powerful
than all the nuclear weapons in Israel's arsenal.

No doubt about it.

Her blood truly cries out from the ground.

back to the issue , the lady may not have ment to kill herself but she put herself in a position to be killed . She was willing to die ? or was she playing chicken and lost ? We don't really know but she put herself in danger and lost her life sad but her fault .
I won't begin to try to understand "in a Christ like mannor" . But it would seem she would have told those being harmed to forgive and God would provide for them if they belived. Again how is it that some accuse others of being RIGHT WING christians and using that to justify war then turn around and use it to justify this woman ?
Someone needs to start keeping score............... just saying ..............

as for her blood crying out what does it say ?

I'm sure she would forgive those who killed her.

Each will hear her voice in the stillness of the night. Those who think she calls for revenge would be in error, for in her life she called for justice and peace.
She call us to take her place.

She was murdered.
I wonder how those responsible for her death sleep at night.
They may be sorry, but more likely they have no conscience.
Some day they will be called to account.

No more so than someone stepping out into traffic and being hit by someone who could not see them. Like I said we don't know if she did right or not but she went about it the wrong way and ended up dead . Sad but trying to blame others ?

I think I would believe she was more of a peace loving person if she would have put her life on the line trying to save some of those muslim women that are murdered for nothing more that family honor, instead of standing in front of a dozer to protect a house!

It's dangerous to stand up to bullies, expose wrongdoing, and speak truth to power.
Sometimes courageous people actually do it.

Right now, here, we're just talking about it.
But this young and beautiful woman did something.
Think what she sacrificed - her whole life practically
ahead of her.
Unlike bought and paid for interventionist soldiers, or terrorist thugs who disrupt and destroy, she peacefully confronted evil.
Right or wrong, she was no threat to anyone's life.

Let me ask you - if we can't oppose injustice peacefully without
being murdered or put in prison, just how should we oppose it?

And what injustice was she exposing?

Alot of melodramatic retoric and a misleading link that doesn't tell the whole story. But that is how bias operates. It's sad that she basically commited suicide. Bulldozer vs woman never turns out well for the woman. She is a hero/martyr to some and a fool to others. The death of any human is something to solemnly consider. I have no opinion of the woman that I care to share now after her untimely death. She is gone and I feel no need to honor her or berate her. It's just a another sad story of a choice that turned fatal. I would only add that I won't be pitching in for a monument in her rememberance. Maybe that makes me a bad person in the eyes of some, but I can live with that.................

I wonder if the thought had ever crossed her mind to camp out next to a school in Israel in an attempt to stop the missile attacks?

The Army bought several of those exact armored dozers from Israel after OIF started, we didn’t have anything like them.  I climbed in one before it got loaded onto the HET to move in Iraq and looked it over.  The driver visibility is very poor, even by dozer standards and with the blade at travel height I don’t think you could see a person sitting in front of you if they were inside 30 yards, perhaps farther.  Anyone that’s ever been around military tracked vehicles knows you watch out for them or you become a road pizza.
