I'm at the very end of the bar. From the questions given, if you want government out of your life, and want government limited by our Constitution, then you will be on the far right end. If you think government should be the giver and doer of everything, you will be on the far left end.

farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr RIGHT!
It looks like the older you are the more chance of being far right on the scale.

That is true. Our government run schools are teaching how to be subject to government, and that a centralized government is good, instead of teaching them what they need to know to remain free. I think its the main reason we are doomed as a free nation.

Sad but true. I believe that our conservative values would have been called "moderate conservative"  only twenty years ago, but now are considered "far right". An indicator of how far we have slipped. :(

Like Saddlebum, my "values" seem to reflect those of a much older man. (not that I'm a spring chicken by any stretch) I wonder how much that is a reflection of how we were raised? For instance, I entered the work force at age eight, and have been working ever since......thus exposing me to "Working Joes" attitudes and thinking much earlier than most, while at the same time being young/flexible enough to see past, and recognize, a lot of organized labor ploys for power for what it was.

The questions are too limited to nail me down.

I belong to a labor union, and at least in my industry (railroad) I am damn glad we have a union since our "management" are very heavy handed, treat all the craft employees like garbage even though most of them have no idea what we do or how to do our jobs. Plus they will do everything they can to get us to do extra work for free. This is infuriating to me.

I don't give a rat's ass about abortion or gay marriage. I simply do not care, and feel the government has no place in regulating either. Frankly either issue is a complete waste of time for our representatives to be undertaking given all the other serious issues facing the nation.

Beyond that I want government to be smaller, and less intrusive.

Where environmental regulations are concerned I know they are necessary, but do not feel it is fair for the all the costs to be solely on the industries being regulated. If we the tax payers want something cleaned up, then maybe we the tax payers should help to pay for that solution. Our govt' spends huge amounts of money on a lot of really useless nonsense, and I'd rather see the money spent on real infrastructure solutions to some of our existing problems including environmental issues.

We all like clean air and clean water, but I also like industries that make things and employ people. With our current regulatory scheme the two are mutually exclusive, but they don't have to be.

This may surprise MANY here; but I came out sightly left of average Republican . I also am a registered Republican..And that is exactly where I thought I would be. I have been called a Dummycrat and Liberal many times on this site.Been told people here don't like me here because of my politics.  This proves that if you don't go along with the thinking of the far right individuals here, you can not be a " true Rebublican and even worse get attacked ."  ::)

You do realize there is a huge difference between an average "democrat" (small d) and an average Dumycrat (large D).  The average large D Dumycrat is by their beliefs and who they vote for, for all practical purposes are communists.

I can relate to what is being posted about the Republican Party here. I know this is just kind of a game to play to get an idea of where you might stand in the grand sceme of things politically. But I was disheartened to see my little arrow sitting there all by himself at the far right end of the scale. Going by that grading system, it appears that the Republican Party is just as 'progressive' as the Progressives. But I guess we already knew that anyway.......... :-[

Concerning the union issue, I think that unions have their place. Things would be alot worse for workers in this country if not for unions. I agree with that arguement when it comes up in discussion. But they have forgotton their place and are way out of control now. I have tried union work a few times over the years and it didn't set well with me. Something in me just can't sit and do nothing while getting paid to do something. That is my personal experience. I know some honorable union men and women with intigrity that can take pride in what they do. But they are becoming a minority. Just as much as unions define and protect workers rights, they should also cull the herd too. Teachers for instance. They do themselves no favors by coddling the worthless and lazy and mishandling the money the members provide. Labor unions should have a much smaller footprint in politics than what they have now, and less power. I think common sense is severely lacking in the union power structure. Labor unions should be an honorable institution and a model for the world. But they have blown it really bad and are now villians that are largely despised by many Americans. I should mention that there are many smaller unions that aren't that bad. Unfortunatly, they get lumped into the generalization of 'unions' that are flagrant misbehavers.

When far right people voice their opinion others can't seem to deal with it. We believe what we do and are willing to stick to it.  The left seems to lower standards ( in our opinion ) and we all see the harm it has caused the country and indivisuals .

Naa... Kimber we like you, its just some of your ideas people here don't like. Just because we disagree with liberal ways doesn't mean we hate the person promoting them. Those that are on the left and are left leaning just need a little more time to understand that conservatives, and their ideas are right, and liberals, and their ideas are wrong. When I started with the company I'm with, there were a couple of staunch liberals that worked there. 25 years later they are staunch conservatives. So see, it just takes some time, along with an open mind. An open mind is important. Its how you will eventually get to know that conservatives have it right.  ;D
Anyway there is a difference between Republicans and conservatives. Republicans are not conservatives anymore. I figure the reason for that is, because republicans want more votes so they headed to the left, because it appears socialist doctrine is what the majority of voters want anymore. What the majority of voters don't realize is that the ship they are on is headed to the ocean floor.

I don't understand the chart at all...I was way far right..but that shows republican...and I'm not one, independents are in the middle, which I am...and republicans are not to the right at all these days, but on this scale they are?  I would think the republican party would be more left/middle and the independents way right. ?

Confused...but then politics confuses me anyway.

I am not a liberal and the quiz proves it.

Now thats funny right there! Doo-no maybe you meant it to be funny, but I don't think that quiz proves anything. Don't know if it would even prove a conservative to be a conservative.
