3 quoins needed
« on: August 30, 2012, 01:27:29 PM »
I have 3 B/P Cannons all Brooks made. I'm in need of coins (sp) for the carriages. Anybody make then???  One id 50cal. the next is 69cal. and the last 1 in. bore. Please advise, have neither tools or area to make these. That's what living in So. Cal. does to you.

Coins is a good word to use to describe what you want when you aren't sure of the term. You are looking for quoins, said like coins except with a Q.  Did you contact Zulu?

Here is one for the 8 inch siege howitzer.

If I can get the measurement from the rimbase to carrige bed  Ishould be able rescale this drawing for each gun.

Just curious. Did you put wheels on the carrige?

Double D, thanks for the update on the proper way it is to be spelled. I did put a question mark at the end because I was unsure. If it hadn't been for a video on this web site I would  of not known what they were called at all. All I knew it was an angled piece of wood under the breech for purposes of elevation.Double D, I will PM you with the information you requested on carriage sizes. If you are familiar with Brooks Cannons you will know the size of the Carriages. And Doc, yes The carriages I have do have wheels on them. As a matter of fact I sent one carriage back to Irishman (Mike) to have Brass wheels put on a smaller 50cal. carriage. It should look very nice when he has completed it.

Wasn't there a popular song in the '60's about that, "Three Quoins in a Fountain?"

For Micheal's sake I hope that is the serial number.

Mine is the SAMCC gun with the Standard muzzle flare.
