  • Oh father of the four winds, fill my sails!
I'm not making this up: she gets pulled for talking on her cell (illegal in CA). One of them slams her into the pavement. They she's cuffed, taken to kop kar, and instead of being put into it... slammed to ground again.

If this were my girlfriend/wife, I'd be a dangerous man around either one of those POS thugs. Wouldn't you?

she was talking on the phone while driving. This is how she looked at two LE thugs got done with her:

Perhaps they can be inducted into the Drew Peterson hall of fame..
   http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-57504603-504083/drew-peterson-murder-trial-testimony-ends-closing-arguments-set-for-next-week/

At the least..fellow officers should be cold to these perps..just to preserve some respect for their badge.  I can somewhat understand an officer "losing it" momentarily, with someone who tried to kill them..but if it is as the video suggests, this brutality is completely uncalled for.
Still, we need to be a bit circumspect and await final disposition.

not too much... they depend upon our being circumspect(they demand it) to wait until the heat is off, then file a report full of BS professional jargon, and then - if worse comes out? - dismiss miscreants as 'unrepresentative' when they're a bit more than that, and it's business as usual.

I say give her brothers and friends a few minutes with the sumbitches in a state of nature - no badge or gun for the kops to hide behind, no 'professional courtesy' to pull them out of the fire - but I'll simmer down and feel differently later.

They didn't shoot her .
She isn't dead,, and it looks like she will heal in time.
Until you all stand in a cops shoes and knows what it's like to have to risk your life keeping the streets safe from people like this " phone talker" you should just keep your mouth shut.
If it wasn't for these two LAPDs who else would have stepped in and thrown her cuffed butt to the ground?
Any volunteers???
Yeah,,, I didn't think so!
These two heroic LAPD's shouldn't have done a fist bump,,,They should have done a screaming high five!
Good job ,,by our boys in blue!!!

Stories like this used to only come to light occasionally.  Nowadays for those who care to search, they can be found daily, regardless of what the brown shirt supporters would have you believe.  I predict as usual these bums will get nothing less than a paid vacation for their acts.  Nothing this woman could have done short of advancing with a weapon would make her deserving of such treatment.  If we start having some of these licensed convicts wake up in a cell with Bubba or face off against family members on a field more favoring the family, such highhanded crap would quickly end.

Two future night watchmen. Hope this doesn't cause a lot of riots in LA.

But I have been tempted to pull some folks over talking on cell phone and give them a beat down, especially when they make me miss a light. Good thing my car is not equipped with RPGs.

I started a thread on this item yesterday, over in Pot bellied Stove.  I titled it > ROTTEN APPLES <..but I didn't get any discussion either.
Saw that post but didn't open it because I thought it was about apples.

couple subjects. As I guy who rides and has kids, I don't like to see people talking on the phone, going somewhat slower than traffic, and not aware of their surroundings... full disclosure would include that I've myself, but have had my consciousness raised on the issue over last couple years, and try to be careful. Who knows, some vigilante might pull me out of my car for talking on the phone. They'd be disappointed when they found out that 1) I can hit back, and 2) I'm often armed.

The cops, if they did what they appears to have done, ought to go straight to jail, end of story. talking on the cell, followed by a little contempt-of-cop, doesn't justify assault under color of law.

Not to worry PowPow, the young lady is far to white to cause any rioting. Simple truth is her peers agree with her being singled out for dangerous and selfish behaviour. The punishment in no way fits the crime. Those who carried out the punishment will no doubt rue the day they met this young lady.

No doubt they have a new career ahead of them. I hear most penetentiaries have job training, lucky them.

Some say "you can tell the character of a man, when he has to face adversity"..and there is an element of truth in that.
Old Abe Linclon said the best test of a man's character is when he is given power!  That does seem to bring out the negatives faster.
If it really happened as it appears in the video..they should betreated like any other two thugs who have beaten a woman..perhaps treated a bit more harshly than others..because they so abused their power.

Just as speeding in a construction zone earns one a steeper fine so should punishment be increased for those who are supposed to uphold the law.

I have imported my post from another thread on the same topic: Here goes...
From what I saw in the video, although we cannot hear it, the lady's door was open (for what ever unknown reason) and it is possible that the officers may have ordered to exit her vehicle (for whatever unknown reason).

Not trying to justify, but I'd bet that at this point she probably asked what for and told 'em to "get bent" and apparently, they did.

Now assuming that they had some reasonable suspicion of something illegal (other than talking on the cell while driving, which in my book makes her an ignoramus) then they would be all legit in ordering her out of the vehicle and even up to the point of the first take down justified by refusing an (assumed) lawful order.

But everything I see beyond that, I feel was completely excessive and unnecessary. Surely they had no idea that there was surveillance.

Hate to put it out there but this was every day LAPD and LASD when I was a kid (back in the days before there was a camera on every block). The only positive aspect about it (if you could call it that) was that if you were willing to take a cuffed beat down at the station and there were enough witnesses around, you could actually get a crack or two in (before five of them dog piled on you and put you in the car) and not have to worry about being charged for assault on an officer.

Based on your black and blue appearance (from an elevator ride in LA County jail), the judge usually would give no heed to any claims of assault on an officer (or the cops wouldn't even bring it up). My older brother (by nine years) was one of these gluttons for punishment.

He's one of the few people I know that has knocked out a number of cops while cuffed (martial arts maniac) and was never charged with assaulting an officer. He used to do it to the shore patrol also when he was in the Navy. Spent a lot of time in the brig but never got kicked out because of his particular expertise at which he was quite good.

Of course, he did not run either and he paid for it at the lock up in the form of missing teeth and cracked ribs. Takes a real hero to beat up an man while he's cuffed I guess. But, my brother was a knucklehead in his prime years. What can I say.

That was a different time in LA.

*************This is a little extreme I think.    Perhaps a broken jaw administered by the husband or a brother is more like it. But all too often while in the process of administering street justice, people don't know when enough is enough, they keep slugging and kicking and before you know it, someone is dead from foot administered head trauma.

From what I know about LAPD policy, this guy MIGHT, and that's a big MAYBE, get fired but he absolutely WILL NOT BE CHARGED for a crime, mark my words. As for street justice, many of you may not know this but in LA cops get their asses kicked ALL THE TIME. But to make this widely, publicly known would truly be a dis-service to the public at large and could ignite fires in the streets that would be difficult to extinguish (example the Rodney King fiasco). It is a matter of public safety that these incidents are kept as quiet as possible, especially if the officer, through his own lack of professionalism, brought the beat down on himself.

They are usually young cops that get cocky and bite off more than they can chew. In the end, they are lucky to walk away with their lives and many of them quit the force and say "nope, not for me".The Sheriff's Dept. is a little different in the sense that they require all academy grads to work a minimum of two years handling inmates in the notorious LA County Jail. This definitely hardens them up and gives them an idea of what they'll be dealing with on the streets before they get out there. The down side to this is that they get into a dehumanizing mentality and treat EVERYONE the way they'd treat a county inmate who is on trial for robbery. As for the guys in this video... who knows  .

Why after passing a law banning cell phones do we see people still driving and gabbing away on them?  I wish when police pull them over they immediately put that cell phone under their heal and squish that little device.  Do you know the guy who crashed the Amtrack train when hundreds were killed was texting while he was steering the train?  I don't mind a few of these cell phone drivers getting their faces put to the pavement.  That'll teach'em a lesson.  Better her than some poor kid getting run over because of driving with a cell phone.
I say get more aggressive with the cell phone drivers.  Hit'em harder.   :D
Study after study has shown how dangerous distracted driving is yet people continue to talk on their cell phones while driving. Driving in the U.S. requires your full attention. Many states and countries have made it illegal to use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and the federal government should follow their lead. Banning the use of cell phones while driving would have the added benefit of making the no-texting law enforceable.

If you go back thru the history of the LAPD this story is just a shallow bump in the road for them.
LAPD has almost as rotten record for a PD as the NYPD or NOPD and that is pretty bad.

Wow, Big Shocker......NOT!! Buddy I am new bere but in my perusing of this site, I am amazed at the double standards the police enjoys here. Dont hold your breath waiting for a bunch of guys here to say that the wonderfull leos are anything but angels among us, and they go to ridiculous lengths to avoid legitimate points that need to be addressed. Like the gentlemen on the video said, they should be held accountable just like the rest of us would be, but I will bet you my next paycheck that as usual, they will sweep it under the rug. Not only have they not been charged, THEY ARE STILL BEING PAID!!!!!!! Oh yes, your tax dollars at work..... Deplorable, but pretty common.

You've got regimes mixed up.  A message needs to be sent.  There needs to be no cell phone use while driving, period.  What is it you don't understand?   >:(

We dont understand why you condone criminal conduct by the ones who we pay with our tax dollars genious. They have a punishment that fits the crime in place for that reason. What dont YOU understand? And by the way High Five? Really? Because the little lady WHO WAS HANDCUFFED was obviously such a threat to those big brave policemen they had no choice but to brutalize her, right? Besides, she must have hurt their little feelings too! Of course she deserved it. Higher standard Mr. Wizard, not the other way around. If those are your feelings there is another country i'm sure will fit your mindset better. Only a short distance off the Alaska coastline. Be more than happy to loan you a boat.......... Ever break the speed limit? Thats dangerous too! I guess you would have no problem when they throw you a beatdown for doing 65 in a 55 zone, right?? Well why not? Thats your very own logic applied! There is a law against it and people still do it. Guess its different when the shoe is on the other foot. As always, soooo funny the way that works out... :o

perhaps... and I like the idea of Doing The Right Thing... but if police become accostomed to citizens reacting to their bad behavior, the same way they'd react... maybe they'd might think twice before showing their asses & abusing citizens, because they can, and because they have the expectation that their fellows will cover for them again. And I'll go on record saying some of them could use a good whuppin', and a few - few - could use worse.

Why was the nurse so arrogant to get out of her car cussing at police?  Because she is a medical practitioner.  They do have their own kind of attitude.  When you go to the doctor, you are in their jurisdiction.  They ask all the questions, write down every answer, ask the same questions again and again, like interrogation.  You may be broken up or bleeding.  Can we see your insurance card?  Then while you are laying there, they are high fiving, laughing about weekends, joking around, texting, etc.  They could care less about a room full of moaning patients because they become used to it.  That gives them a feeling of power.  I once heard of a surgeon telling a cop giving him a ticket, "Just wait until I have you on my operating table."
