Rem 700 Bolt question

Bought an old model Rem 700 BDL in 30-06. The bolt has jeweling in two lengthwise strips but the remainder of the bolt is a dull not quite polished silver. Once I cleaned the rfle the bolt cycled smoothly.
Anybody know if that's a danger sign or...?
Picked it up for $339 at a pawn shop. Stock needs a ittle TLC but other than one spot of worn blue nder forearm wood I see nothing wrong.
Now, if you guys have any ideas on that bolt...?

Just honest wear and perhaps a sign a previous owner didn't take proper care of cleaning and lubing. I personally can't see any reason to be concerned.

Yup, the rifle just needed a good cleaning. Clean the action including where the bolt lugs lock the action and use some synthetic grease on the bolt lugs and cocking cam and it should work smooth.

Great, just what I was hoping to hear.
Now I will shoot it and see if I like it or do a barrel switch to the 257 roberts barrel I have.

If you really want that 257 Roberts I would not shoot that rifle.  Just go ahead and do it.  Shooting a possible donor may lead to you having to find another rifle.  I bought a Remington 700 varmint in 22 250 with the intent of making a custom target rifle.  I shot the darn thing and now I still have it.  I found it difficult to tear down a rifle that shoots a half inch group.  Your choice your money.  Enjoy.

Whatever you do, don't run a box of 180 grain Core-Lokts through it.  It will be a .30-06 forever if you do.  I see no reason to downgrade the rifle to .257 Bob if it shoots good.
