45-70 22" or 30-30 22" with Buff stock set, probably because they're both sighted in with factory ammo which I have alot.

Well, of course I'll start with the 35 Rem, but y'know the .44 might be good early in the season or there's the 7mm-08 I ain't tried yet, or I could use the.........

This year I have some real problems.... See my home state now allows HANDGUNS for deer hunting!!!

I WAS pretty set with breaking in the 356..... I still will, but I don't know if it will be the first deer...

I have been working up 10MM loads and re tuning the 357 Colt Whitetailer. ;)

It has been 30 years since I put a bullet in a deer... and that was a Winchester 94 in .32 Special... I have killed dozens of them since then... all with a bow. This year will be no different. Three or four weekends bowhunting with my son... attempt a big buck for most of it and then arrow a dry doe for the freezer toward the end of the season.

Unbeleivable.  Here in Colorado, deer are everywhere, but only one tasg is allowed.  They can only be purchased through drawing in April, when we don't even know if we'll have a job in the fall.  Tags are almost impossible to get by people who live here (most are saved for non-residents), so most of us can only hunt elk.
The right to keep and bear 16 inch guns shall not be infringed.

The bigger they are, the more the bullets expand.

hunting the sands in south eastern NM, deer are smart shots greater than 200 yards are norm, so the 308, late in evening they move into mesquite choked draws then i use the 45/70 with open sights, been lucky and have drawn deer here every year

I'll use the 35 Remington for antelope with hard cast Beartooth Bullets. Not sure yet about deer or elk. I'd like to use the 44 Mag. for elk, but I may be in grizzly country. I'd feel better there with my Marlin 444P and hard cast. Too many choices, for which I am grateful.  :)

For my nieces they will be using my Handi 223 with the collapsible stock being they all have different trigger pulls and I will be using my new Handi 22 hornet that I can not wait to use.

Crossbow starting Monday!   Then the 58 cal Huntsman.  On oct 11, gun season in SC opens, I will be using a rotating cast of characters.  Need to bloody the 454 carbine, then the 500 S&W, then the 30-30 Topper.  But what about the 416 Rigby and 405 Win Encores?  Ten handi's, 14 encore barrels, and a sack full of milsurps and 4 AR's, plus a few bolt guns, I will have to kill 10 deer a year for 5 yrs to get them all indoctrinated.  Oh well, I just hope I live long enough to get it done.

Do you mean that there is another choice besides the 45-70?!  For sure I'll use the 45-70 but I just got my 30-06 handi dialed in so I'll probably take it along.  One for short range and one for long range.  Golfers use more than one club, why can't we use more than on rifle?

I'll be packin an old (built in 1968) Ruger 41 Mag BlackHawk as back up to my 45-70.  I expect the Ruger to just "be along for the ride"  ;)
