Anybody used TSX 130gr in 6.5mm?

Hi. I bought some 130gr TSX for my 6.5x55. According to QL I should
aim for 2850fps. I just want to know if anybody use them and how did
they perform, on game and in accuracy departments?

I'm to cheap to buy those bullets.   I do have a bunch of other types that will suffice up to my next lifetime.

  I never had a 6.5x55, but did use a .260 rem until I had it reamed to 6.5/284. I used Noslers only, but I have killed game with a couple 6mms and x bullets and a 257 Weatherby. I think your 130 TSX will make your 6.5x55 kill like a 6.5/06 with regular bullets, maybe better! I'm assuming from your avatar we are talking about heavy game, or at least blesbuck and up? Should be "pure poison"! Would love to hear how your load workup goes. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, yes I shot a kudu cow and an impala 2 weeks ago. There were also
oryx around, but I didn't get a shot on those. I used 140gr Sierras which worked fine, but I think
I would have been happier with something stronger for oryx or a kudu bull.

For those big guys, do you have access to 140 gr Nosler PT's. My Nosler Book gives loads that produce close to 2800 ft/sec MV.  That ought to be enough.  I do prefer lead in my bullets

BBF : It the twist of the barrel that it take to stabilize that bullet at that speed.  If the gun in question is a military 6.5x55 it will have a twist of 1/8.66" (one full rotationg every 8.66") so it would need to be loaded to the 1/9" speed that is too high pressure for a military action (Mauser M93 and M95). This is a nother example of the fact that TSX bullet won"t most likey work unless you have custom barrel with a fast twist.

I'm on the other end of the OP's requirement, I'm trying to slow down the bullets I use for close range small White Tails.

BBF: With what you just said you should be looking at Hornady 129 or 140gr Interlock bullets. They were made for the speed range that you are working for. You could also go with the 160gr RN.  Barnes TSX must be driven hard to make them stabilise and open up.

 Loading and testing the 160 gr Hdy RN at ca 2300fps and the Hdy 129 gr SST. I have little hope for the last since its very design implies  l o n g range.
 
The OP, he didn't reply re Nosler PT's or something not mentioned would be Speer Hot-Cor or Grand Slam bullets.

Yup. Just tried them out in a Ruger 77, and shot a nice group. Powder was H4350, if I remember correctly. I haven't used them on game yet, but I have used the 120/6.5 with good results on 2 deer in a 260 Rem.

In the Barnes, the 130 is a heavy as it gets.

The only bullet's I use in my 6.5x55 are 129gr Hornadys and 140gr Hornadys.  R19 powder does a good job foe me. Don't recall the velocity but I'm reaching the point where I think it's not so important anymore.
