West Texas Axis deer hunt

anyone know a contact ## for some where I might be abke to hunt axis does?? I am not interested in a "tropy hunt", only the meat--I understand Axis deer taste great!!

There is an outfit out near Marthon called Fair Chase Hunts or some such. They have exotics. Ya might see if you can locate them. I think this is a link or was a link to them.

Try Phillip Glass who owns Half Circle Six Ranches in Water Valley, TX. Near San Angelo. Really nice ranch and great animals.

Have a hunting partner who went last weekend.   He has a season "deer" lease where the exotics outnumber the whitetail 4 to 1.    He said the axis are really in the breeding mode right now, and the bucks are calling all over the pasture.
I call it "roaring" and it is a trait I wish my whitetails could learn.   Sends chills up my spine like an upclose turkey gobble!

Anyway, if you can go for axis, now is the perfect time!   He killed a real nice 32" old, old buck.
