JP Adjustable Trigger
« on: September 03, 2012, 06:37:28 PM »
Has anyone here used one of the JP adjustable triggers?  Since they just come with trigger, springs and disconnector, I was wondering how well they work with the stock hammer.  Or do you need to order the JP speed hammer as well to get the full benefit from it?

sorry, only aftermarket trigger group I have used is the Accuracy Speaks group. However, the smith that did my AS work now works for JP Rifles, if that makes any difference.

I have a JP in one of my lowers. I'm looking for another replacement for it. The issue has been since I got it that the disconnector MUST be a specific length for this work right. Mine is apparently not made right. After what seems like endless help from the JP folks, I give up. If I need a crisp trigger, then I end up with far too many doubles going off. Adjust it where it eliminates the unwanted second round going off and the trigger has miles of creep. I was looking at the single stage drop in units like a Timney but it seems that their quality is hit and miss. Some love them and some are as bad if not worse than what I have. Their 3lb trigger can go from 2lbs to the absurd 6lbs. I've been looking at a Jewell from GreatScottShooter. He's getting 205 bucks shipped for a small pin Jewell that's adjustable from 1-7 lbs. But I haven't bought anything just yet. But the JP has got to go.

I have installed and used 3 JP Adjustable Triggers, 2 with the JP Speed Hammers and 1 with a standard DPMS Hammer, all with JP Springs.
All have worked flawlessly once adjusted properly. The key is timing the disconnector and it is covered in the instructions. Yes on the first one I installed I did ruin a disconnector buy taking too much off of the tip but the replacement was fitted properly and is still in the gun functioning perfectly after several years and more rounds than I can count.
I have never tried any of the other Adjustable or Drop in Single Stage AR Triggers or 2 Stage Triggers either for that matter. I guess I am perfectly happy with the JP's.
