I by no means hold any records  .  There is a gentleman on a yahoo list that holds at least double of what I own, and most of his, I believe are custom barrels in non-factory chamberings, plus I believe he has a frame for each barrel.   My humble collection of Encores & Contenders is meager by comparison, but a lot of fun when it comes to burning great deals of gun powder and lead

Hey, :D  what are you shooting out of your .500 S&W? What length? Corbon factory stuff? I have 440 LSWGC loaded over max H110 and holds 2" at 100yds!!  My S&W M500 is awesome. I want to now get a TC Encore barrel for it. Probably a 15" with a fish-gill brake;just for cool factor. I think they look neat! :D

I'm not going to give a number or make a list(my wife might be looking), but I can count right, off the top of my head, at least 15 calibers that I have more than one barrel in.  However, I have actually gotten rid of a few barrels lately and yes, they did go to a good home.  Of course there is only one acceptable reason for doing such a thing and that is to provide space and funding to buy MORE!!! RIGHT???  Ooooohhhh, I'm sicker than I thought.  GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  :-D  :-D  :-D

I'm in TC barrel "rehab".  I currently own 7 barrels and two TC Contender frames.
I've sold off an Encore frame, four Encore barrels and sold off 5-16" TC barrels (kept three) and several 10" and 14" barrels.

I think we "need" one of each caliber that T/C has made!!! I'm missing 4 of the .17s... Also missing two frames, the one with the eagle and the one with the serial number under the fore arm.
YES, it is a sickness!!! But LOVE it.

It's all my wife's fault.  She gave me a Contender with a 16" 45-70 barrel for Christmas a few years ago.  Since then I keep finding barrels I can't live without.  Then it became a pain to change barrels and stocks, so I had to get a couple extra frames.  Then the factory stock started looking ugly, so I had to get some fancy wood...

I had two barrels I thought I could live without, I let a friend have them and now he has the disease too.

Look like I got room for more. I guess right now I'm only a social collector. Not a full blown TCaholic
I've got one Contender frame and one Encore frame. I only have one pistol barrel for the contender in .22 wmr and I love it. I have 22-250, 209X50 and 12 gauge turkey long barrels for the encore. I want to get a G2 frame a .375, .44 mag, and I just heard about the new .17 markII hmmmmm. sounds cool............

I have nine barrels and made a hanger to store them in the back of my safe.  I took a piece of plastic and cut slots the width of the lugs and then milled a slot down the length of it for the pins on the sides of the lugs.  Put two feet on it and put it against the back wall of the safe on top of the long gun supports.  Works very well with the barrels hanging verical, but nine barrels is its limit.

Yep I am building a little hanger system for my barrels as well. Mine will only hold four at a time and its made up of little hanger brackets on a piece of aluminum plate. The whole plate assembly will fit in a suitcase for travel or the back side of my safe when I am done. The rest of my barrels are hanging for soft wire hooks on the side of the safe.

« Reply #51 on: April 07, 2004, 07:06:17 PM »
Contender stuff. I have a variety of things for the gun including a few extra forends. The one thing I try to do is have a forend for every barrel I own. This way I usually don't have to swap them around when I put a barrel on a frame. I just have the forend screwed to the barrel. for some I have wood others I have pachmayr and even a couple of the T/C rynite plastic. but every barrel has its own. The heavyer kickers usually have pachmayr to keep the recoil down to a tolerable level.
I simply lay the barrels and frames out on the shelves in silcone socke or cloths to keep rust at bay. Fortunelately my current cabinette has enough room to hold the entire contender collection except for the holsters. The new one will hold even them. (yes I am planing a new one this one set up from the getgo to handle Contenders and barrels and stuff.

Wow,

That's the beauty Of TC's.

I totally understand your interests in owning and shooting a zillion different rounds, but for my meager needs,my 3 barrels(.22,.223,.44mag)totally fullfill my needs.(At least for now  )

All 3 are scoped, and the .44 is magnaported.

Unless something new pops up,I can use my money exclusively for ammo.

Who am I kidding, sooner or latter ,I'll need a few more barrels. :)

You need at least two more a 30-30 or 7-30 waters and something on the order of a 358, or 375 jdj or bellm, maybe a 444 or a 45 70 something for the really big stuff. You will find the 30-30 very useful flat shooting and accurate. I want a second in carbine length and will get one someday.'

I have 2 barrels and haven't even got my (G2) frame yet.  Its on layaway up at Grice's and I just haven't got up that way to pick it up.  Its driving me crazy.   :-D

So far  10" .22LR Match and a 12" .44Mag.  Want a .17HRM (but not a super14), and then a .17HM2 after that.   Prefer to get the latter 2 in a 10" bull cfg.

I'm currently starting all over again.

So far I have 1 Stainless-Steel Contender Frame. Current Barrel(s) include a super accuracy SS Super 14 Match Grade .22 LR with a 3x12x Burris LER Fine Plex-PA Handgun Scope with Target Turrets.

Currntly on order is a 14" SS On Target Technologies 6mm T/CU Contender Barrel. I already have the 3x12x Burris LER Matte Plex-PA Handgun Scope for this barrel as well as the mount.

I am also thinking of adding a SS Super 14 .223 Remington Barrel, and possiblly a SS Super 14 .30-30 AI from Fox Ridge Outfitters in the not to distant future as well as another SS Contender Frame.

Who knows what will come after these.

Ok, so there is no such thing as enough barrels - I keep thinking I am getting close, but then one pops up that seems like I must have it.  At the moment I have 7 Contender frames that I can think of and 3 Encore frames, that does not count the one I bought for my wife for her birthday last year    or the one I got for my son a couple years ago (he is 3 now) :-D .  I kind of lost count on barrels, I know there are more than 10 Encore barrels and probably more than 20 contender barrels - I will have to do inventory one of these days. :D
