Majestec Arms speed strip kit ?
« on: September 04, 2012, 12:30:07 PM »
Evening folks ,

Anyone use or have a Majestec Arms kit installed in their Ruger 22 auto.  Meaning the MKIII , I believe they make kits for MKII also.  Its supposed to make the task of field stripping the MKIII easy , along with eliminating the mag safety and giving it a good trigger all wrapped up in one kit.  I ask this same question on another forum...really got mixed results.  I'd kinda like to try one , but don't want to waste my $75 either.  Thanks for your thoughts.

Great question.  I can't wait to hear the answer.  I have several Ruger semi-autos.  Mine already have the triggers, springs, etc.  Just interested in the speed strip part.  Is it as easy apart and together as they say?

Can't wait to hear......

Not a good sign , steve .  Guess no one has or is trying it out.  I did ask the same question on the Ruger forum , got a mixed bag of repies.  Several stated great kit ...others said wasn't worth the invested cash.  At about 70 bucks I may just give it a shot...if it doesn't meet my expections I'll put the old parts back in and consider it a learning experience.  ;)

I seem to recall someone here posting about it but don't recall who or how long ago. They liked it tho I do recall that. I've also seen a couple reviews in magazines of it and they were high in praise of it but then magazines never say anything bad about things anyway.

Personally I want one for my Ruger Mark III 22/45 Lite which is the only Ruger semiauto I own these days. I'm reasonably sure I will eventually get one for it but I will not install it myself.

I ain't never ever again gonna take down a Ruger whether MK I, MKII or MKIII. Just ain't happening. I can't seem to get that silly thing back together for the life of me. Had a friend who considered himself a Ruger expert and claimed he could do it in no time at all. It was a few hours later when he finally got mine back together and told me don't bring it back to him again as he wasn't messing with it again. I didn't either I just traded it off tho I admit I miss it and would love to again have one with the 10" barrel like that one had.

I had the same problem that Graybeard had. Shot a MK11 in silhouette quite abit.(averaged around 2000 to 2500 rds a year for 5-6 years back in the late 80's and early 90's) I was never comfortable taking it completely apart, so usually just took the grips off and sprayed it down with a gun scrubber of some variety. And run a patch or 2 down the barrel. A friend of mine came over and had basically the same experience that Bill had. He took it apart, we cleaned it, and when it came time to put it back together, it took a better part of an hour. So, I shot it for a few more years, and never took it apart again. gypsyman

My dad has an early Mark I.  That gun comes apart easy, cleans easier, goes back together, and fires accurately.

I have a Mark I with a custom barrel on it.  I have to yank and twist and pull and fight and sweat to get that take down pin removed from back of grip that goes up into the action.  Then  I have to bump the action pretty hard with a rubber hammer to get it apart.  I have to hit it harder to get it back together.  Same with a Bull Barrel Mark II.  If I don't have the rubber hammer out, they will not come apart nor go back together.  Have to fight the tear down pin both ways, in and out.

Internals are easy once the action is off the grip.  If that take down pin and allen screw speed up the tear down, without influencing accuracy, that would be half of my battle.
