Like a religious miracle! (within the context of a home PC)
« on: September 04, 2012, 05:37:31 PM »
I replaced Norton anti-virus with Windows Security Essentials, a simple process that's just a bit time consuming, maybe 40 minutes. The PC I have hated for five years for running the fan all the time and slowing down to do virus scans all the time is now a genuine pleasure to use!

The fan is quiet all the time. The computer doesn't slow down. It's fabulous! Essentials is free from Microsoft.

I feel like finding the team that developed it and give them each a big hug!

I had a post here somewhere about this asking about it. If you helped me, thanks!!! I appreciate it.

It really galls me that McCaffee and Norton both somehow think it's OK to design a piece of software that exerts tremendous wear and tear on a PC, hijacks it so that it is practically unusable at times, and generally has a host of annoying features and interruptions. Absolutely the opposite of what software should be.

Both of those packages are a thing of the past now, thankfully.

I've been using that Microsoft freebie for a couple years now, and it works just fine.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

The guy at Comp USA told me if I had a HP computer not to use norton that it would slow it down
Tremendously
I see you found it out
Glad you did
too bad it was so long in the making

I'm not that brave to trust Microsoft by itself to keep my 'puter healthy.
I used to run three programs until two of them were incompatible to some extend with the one I have a lifetime service agreemen( dunno if that means my life or the PC) :-\

So far STOPzilla has done a good job.
What is the point of Life if you can't have fun.
