I started this debate but almost wish I wouldn't have, though it is the longest post on my forum, si it must be quite interesting to many readers. Yet, what I don't like, and have dropped out of, is the debate on whether God really is, and is what the Bible says he and Jesus Christ are.
The problem with such debating, is that it will never end peacably, nor will it give a debator or reader of the discussion a knowledge that will truly give him peace of mind as to where he is going after he dies. If we boil the whole subject down to fit in a nutshell, this is the crux of the discussion.
I would like to offer a solution, whether you believe the Bible or not. To try my solution you WILL have to try what the Bible says. When you try it, keep in mind that the Bible says that Jesus Christ will judge the world in wrath (at the wicked), and that his judgment is absolutely just. So the primary object in trying what I tell you is to avoid the wrath of a God who has all power and athority in heaven and earth. But he is also the author, the founder and the source of love, and loves every human no matter what they think of Him. A love so deep that he gave his life to set up a plan where he wouldn't have to judge men in anger.
Christ promised shortly before he left the earth with his physical body, that "I will wittness to you." His requirements for us to have this personal relationship with the "Almighty God of the universe' , is that we confess our sins to him and turn from them, and offer our self for the rest of our life to serve him. That's right. No need to get your wallet out, a freight train can't carry enough money to buy what he offers for free.
It is Christs job to prove that he is, not the job of any man, because no one is elloquent enough or wise enough to prove anything of the spiritual realm. Christs wittness to you personally will be your proof, and an unspeakable peace will be all or part of the wittness. The peace is given because he puts part of his spirit in those who honestly give themselves to him. When it happens to you, tell a scientest about it and he'll say, that is no proof that God exists because it is just a personal experiance. Tag on! Bingo! A personal experiance, which gives that person with the experiance, and no one else, the certain knowledge that all is well with his soul and REMOVES THE FEAR OF DEATH, and judgement by an angry God. This is what all religions strive for, but only the Christ one promises it and can fullfill it. That's why Christians are so set in their ways even if they don't understand much about the Bible or can't argue convincingly. They say that Christ lives in them. You'll see it repeatedly stated in the science vs God post. They know Christ is living in them and will quietly lay their neck on a choping block to have their head whacked off before, or face a firing squad with a smile, before they will recant on their 'belief'.
So if you think you evolved from a monkey and will just fade away, or can't believe anything about God and His Bible, I'm suggesting that you at least try to know him rather than taking a chance on facing him after death .
To see if maybe there actually is a living God try talking to Him, and you can talk to him by just thinking it. Tell Him that if he really is real you don't want to deny him any longer but want to be his friend for the rest of your life and for him to be your friend. Confess your sins to him and ask him to take your life over and direct you as he wishes from now on. If you get a wittness you'll know that Christ lives and lives within you. ----- If you do this and really mean it, you will never argue against God or the Bible again!
If you aren't dead serious it won't work, and you can't lie to or fool God. Just talk the truth to him and it will. I know because I've done it and know MANY others who have.
