Help finding Swedish Mauser parts -UPDATE- Got 'er together

My buddy's dad recently gave me two small ring Mauser barrels/actions.  They had been sitting in storage rusting away.  After much cleaning, rust removing, and bore inspection, I'm going to try to turn one into a hunting rifle.  It's a 6.5X55 M38, made in Mexico in 1939.  It has a Timney trigger on it.  I took it to my local gunsmith and asked him what I needed to order, since I know very little about Mausers.  After writing down the list of parts he told me to get, I've found most online, but I'm having trouble finding a box magazine for it.  If someone could point this newbie in the right direction I'd be most thankful.  Here's a list of parts and the websites I plan to order from:

im not familar with the mex mausers but some of the aftermarket small ring stocks do away with the box mag, just need the spring and follower.the box mag is made into the stock.these are mostly synthetic stocks tho.

Rod:  I am not aware of any M38 Swedish Mausers being made in Mexico but I am not a/the total expert on this.  If this is truly a Swedish made M38 it should have been made by Husqvarna and probably sold to Mexico. 
Boyds should not have a problem providing you with a nice sporter stock for that Mexican Swede and I would look in the Shotgun News and to Numerich Arms for parts.  There are a few places that have lots of Swede M38 parts - SAMCO and SARCO included.
As for hunting with the Swede, mine is a Husqvarna made M38 with a #3 (#1 is best) barrel that shoots snake eyes at 150m, all day.  Good luck with yours.

I solved the mystery of the Mexican Swede.  What I have is a Mexican receiver with a Swedish barrel.  Does anyone know what parts I need to attach the floorplate.  Gun-parts.com lists the following:

Floor Plate Release........................$10
Floorplate Catch.............................$15
Floorplate Catch Spring.................$ 2
Floorplate Catch Pin.......................$ 1
Floorplate Hinge Pin......................$ 2

Looking at a schematic, it seems like I wouldn't need all these parts.  Can someone shed some light on it for me.  Thanks again guys!

Nah, I can actually afford parts at these prices.  I just didn't see that many parts in the diagram.  I guess if I end up with extras they can go in the drawer with the $40 mower blades from amazon that didn't fit my mower.

Got her assembled and shooting. 



I still have some work to do, but I could hunt with this rifle today if it came down to it.  Here's the first 100 yard group after adjusting the scope:



I still need to float the barrel and bed the action, which hopefully will shrink those groups.  As is I'm shooting minute-of-baseball, which will make meat but still not quite where I want it.  I'm shooting Speer Hot Cor 120 grain bullets over 46 grains of IMR 4831.  Can't wait to see how it handles the deer!

Get you some 120 Sierra or Nosler ballistic tips and give them a try with one of the 4350s.  I use 46 grs AA 4350 and it is really accurate in all 5 of my 6.5X55 Swedes. This is a MAX load for the small ring action according to Accurate Arms. Out of the M-96 Mauser 29" barrel it will do 3000 fps and will drop a deer in it's tracks. For some reason I could never get Speer 120's to shoot in any of my 6.5's. I load all my rounds with any bullet out to COAL 3.050 . This is as long as will fit into the M-96's magazine and work flawlessly. The Swede barrels have looooooooog throats for the looooooooooog 160 gr RN military bullet. It may be that the Speer 120 bullets did not like that loooooooog jump to get to the lands and grooves. The more game I shoot with the 6.5X55 the more impressed I am with it. Those long golf pencil like bullets just keep mushrooming and keep on trucking through things. If you want to red mist a ground hog try some 100 gr Sierra HP's starting out a little over 3000 fps. Looks like shooting water balloons full of red paint. Nice looking rifle by the way. Hope you get it shooting bug holes soon.

There is a shortage of the mexican mausers because they had the 98 bolts in the receivers and they made strong platforms for doing builds.
My swede Carl Gustaf M96 benchrested using sellier & bellot 131gr sp ammo will print 1 1/2" groups very nicely at 100yds.  Thats not too shabby with over the counter ammo.

So far I'm loving this one.  After searching and finding some IMR4350 per shot1's advice, my groups shrank to about half the size of the one in the pic.  Only 20 more days till I can see what she'll do!

Glad I could help you out. You will be amazed at how the 6.5X55 kills. Just put the bullet where it is supposed to go and have a good sharp knife ready.

I've used about 3-4 pounds of AA 4350 in my 6.5 Swed 120-140 gr bullets. I have shoot 15-20 deer and couple pronghorns, lots pdogs, even a couple cdogs, even a few porkypines most with one shot from a few yards to well over 400. In fact I sold my .270 (wished I hadn't now) because it was collecting to much dust.
