"Look son, being a good shot, being quick with a pistol, that don't do no harm, but it don't mean much next to being cool-headed. A man who will keep his head and not get rattled under fire, like as not, he'll kill ya. It ain't so easy to shoot a man anyhow, especially if the son-of-a-___ is shootin' back at you."

JB Books as played by John Wayne in "The Shootist". I believe the JB stood for John Bernard.

On second thought, the Clint Eastwood charactor in "The Unforgiven". Can't recall his name right now.

:D  DDO, you were right the first time & I was wrong. It was said by John Bernard Books (The Duke) To Gillam Rogers (Ron Howard) when he was giving him a shootin lesson. Gillam was quoteing Bat Masterson & I was wrong. But you sparked my memory of the movie.

DDO's the man of the hour (at least he was closest).  It was Gene Hackman in his Little Bill Daggett role in Unforgiven.

I think the problem may like with having seen too many (impossible  ) movies, too many concussions (a definitive possibility) and breathing too much black powder smoke! ( :o Another impossibility)
