Never forget 9-11-01.

I never will. I can still see those poor folks jumping to their death to keep from burning alive. I can still see them walking around with buckets picking up body parts. I can almost smell the stench of burning, rotten flesh. I can almost hear the screams of the dying as they were being burned to death.
I can almost hear the godless ones screaming allah akhbar as they murdered 3,000 innocent Americans and sent themselves to hell. Nope, I'm not forgetting anything.

mr. powderman sir,

i'm with you, but i'm sad to say a whole
great big bunch of folks seem to have forgotten.
i'm grateful for the sacrifices our first
responders and service people make,
but the sad fact remains that as long
as the lights and television work, and
the grocery stores have food, and gasoline
can be had at any price, there are a lot of
folks who can't be bothered with details
of the dirty jobs of 21st century life.

god bless america and god bless texas

I shall never forget that day.  I still carry a scar from where I dropped a coffee mug and one of the pieces punctured my lower leg.

Remember this day, and venerate those persons who gave their lives in defense of liberty and freedom, standing fast against to plague of Islam.

I am doing a special attack update for this thread because of this most august of occasions.

19,582 terror attacks since 11 Sept 2001.

Weekly Jihad Report
Sep . 01 - Sep. 17
Jihad Attacks:
43
Allahu Akbars*:
5
Dead Bodies:
155
Critically Injured:
330
*Suicide Attacks

For the warriors who died for freedom from the Islamic cancer, I can only say "requiescat in pace", and say a small prayer of gratitude for their sacrifice.

That day I ate at a Chinese buffet. I was the only customer in a ususlly very busy resteraunt. One of the cooks said "We need to go over there and wipe them out". I responded, "who would we hit, we don't know who did it". He look at me rather strangly.

There really never was any doubt about who was behind the attack and where they were located.  When I think about all the people who died in the the attack and how many of our warriors who have paid the price, I still believe that we should have given the Taliban in Afghanistan and any other country that harbored al Qaeda 48 hours to give them all up.  If they failed to comply sufficiently, they should have been turned to dust.  Yes, a lot of so-called innocent folks would have been smoked, but in the long run it would have saved more Americans and it would have been a lasting deterrent and message to those who might think about such an act.

How could I forget? It was the day the US was defeated by itself, and weakened to a critical degree. It was more a self linflicted wound than anything else. One well calculated attack created the kind of over-reaction that terrorists dream of but seldom realize. A security bureaucracy of epic proportions weakens the nation and enriches the government class, accomplishing little for all the expense and effort.

The resulting wars proved that the US is no longer capable of even a relatively minor anti-insurgency effort without spending trillions of dollars, most of it borrowed.

Add to that the self-defeat of the US by Russia in the handling of the defense network in eastern Europe, and you've got an amazing situation where the world's one true superpower is at the point of military impotence.

What's next, creating an eastern capital in Constantinople?

I disagree that our reaction was an over reaction.  Our reaction was very measured and too slow.  It still goes on and it should have been done with in 48 hours and 15 minutes.

A security bereaucracy that created MORE, by far not the only, laws that more readily serve to label the citzcens of it's own country terrorist than to prevent terrorist from being able to attack again. ear

I got sick after 9/11. I just hated to see that happen to my country. It was a very bad cold, more like pneumonia, and it lasted for a couple of weeks. I've never been sick like that.

America has not forgotten how to win a war. It is very simple. Once war has been declared by congress. The president goes to the joint chiefs and says go kick our enemies butts so they will never do this again. The joint chiefs turn to theater commanders and say kick our enemies butts until they are no longer a threat. The theater commanders issue the order to unleash the military might and not to stop until they are ordered to. The military goes and kicks the butt until ordered to stop.

What you have now is politicians interfering in the process worrying about re elections and how much money will be lining their own pockets. >:(

If you tell a military person grab some guys and go kick somebodies butt and don't stop until you are told to they will do exactly that. They will do it with style and authority. When you tell them go kick somebodies butt, and be nice about it you just gave conflicting orders and are unworthy of the leadership position you have,

I don't know that I can agree. It looks like we have a generation of military leaders that don't even know how to relate to a mission. Sure there are some good ones, but when the guys at the top can't even answer the direct question of why we are in a particular theater of war, there is a problem in the quality of leadership.

Americans mourned and prayed today, imam obama greets the arab forum.

Obama Releases Message to Arab Forum on 9/11: Speaks to 'His Highness'  9/11/12

In a Youtube video posted online, Barack Obama spoke to the Arab Forum without mentioning 9/11, the radicalism of the Muslim Brotherhood, nor anti-American propaganda from Al Jazeera.
From Breitbart:

Not only is Barack Obama
violating his pledge not to campaign on 9/11, but he is also using the day to issue greetings to the Arab Forum on Asset Recovery, seemingly oblivious to the importance and solemnity of the day, as well as the context of his message.

Obama offers thanks to the Emir of Qatar--showboating some rather halting Arabic skills in addressing "His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani"--and praising the inspiring democratic example of the Arab Spring, which happened to leave the absolute monarchy of Qatar untouched.

Obama caused a scandal last year when CBS News caught him criticizing the Emir of Qatar after reporters had left a fundraiser in Chicago: "He is a big booster, a big promoter of democracy all throughout the Middle East...He himself is not reforming significantly. There is no big move towards democracy in Qatar."
Obama has evidently chosen to make up for the insult--by insulting fellow Americans on 9/11.

Mecca should have been leveled...
how many dead bodies would have been enough? Do you know what the population of Mecca is non-Hajj times? How many dead civilians there would have been satisfying? Some of them? All of them? Just the ones involved in the attack? Who were those?

Good post Conan.

The terrorists definitely caused us to defeat ourselves that day. We now have The Dept. of Homeland security, the TSA, the NDAA, a president who can legally kill any American, warrantless wiretaps, etc. My daughter went on her 8th grade class trip to D.C. last year and she told me that you can't even go into a food court in our nation's capitol without going through a metal detector first.

Ben Franklin warned us about this and we didn't listen. We now live in a country where we gave up essential liberty for temporary security and we deserve neither. The Muslims achieved exactly what they wanted, for us to give up our freedom. I don't blame them for our loss of freedom, though. I blame the politicians and the American people for allowing this to happen.

The patriot act is an oxymoronically named result of legislative knee jerk reaction. Unanimously or almost unanimously voted for by your duly elected representatives.
